I have 1 question why would someone steal Appa I mean they knew it was the Avatar's since he's the last one left

I don't think they knew Appa was the Avatar's pet or that Aang was even the Avatar. I'm guessing they stole Appa for money. They probably thought a rare flying creature would get them a lot of gold pieces.

Yeah. They probably took him for the gold. From the small commercial I saw, they could be trying to train him for a circus or something.

I'm sure they sold him for money also. And I think the head of the Da Chi allowed those people to sell him so that the Avatar would stay in Ba Seng Sei.
