The only time we have had to use such things is when there's actually been a pest problem. For example, we have a colony of ants that tries to invade our kitchen every summer, and we need to take care of that. No choice, really, if we want to actually have edible food. Also, we found a tick on my mom's leg now from the backyard, so we might have to purchase something to take care of that problem back there. Sometimes, it's an issue of balancing the lesser of two evils. Which is better; using a bit of pesticide or leaving ticks in our lawn to infect any of the animals (including us) that pass by? It's a tough thing, and I despite pesticides, but I do not know of any natural alternatives available around here.
