I don't think many people get it with me, I have some friends but they really don't understand at all and I get the feeling they just don't want to deal with it. My partner tries really hard and he understands most times but sometimes it is like he is just so far away from where I am at. I don't feel at the moment that I have any true friends just acquaintances

That's terribly sad sad Some awareness needs to be had for everyone, one obscure day a year is hardly worth it. Some correct fact's wouldn't go a miss either.

Disco Duck None of my friends, were bothered about my leg, and they all tried to understand, though obviosuly they couldnt. Most of my mates are very intrigued and curious by my prostethic leg, and it is always gives me something to talk about when i meet new people. My deafness, however, seems to crate more problems when i meet people. They usually think that we cant communicate is they dont know sign language so i get ignored a lot. But i'm perfectly capable of lip readin and speaking english, some people are just to rude to ask sometimes I wouldn't say that they're "to rude". They probably just don't know how to ask. Heck, I'm a person with a disability and I get uneasy about asking someone what's wrong with them.
Except in the hospital, then its just expected lol

it is in fact, hard to make friends when I try talk to ppl they have this "But......you're in wheelchair 0.0" looks but when I talk to them and hang out, they understand that I'm like any normal person sitting in chairs. My few friends gave me feedback on their first impressions on me and they apparently had no idea what to do with me or how to talk and they thought of me as different creatures but as they spent times with me they came to realize that handicaps are like any other normal ppl and will intend to treat other handicaps like normal ppl from now on.
