Epidemic of Insanity

We're singing this one song, "Baby, It's Cold Outside."

It's about this guy asking his girlfriend not to go and leave him lonely. She's like, "People'll call me a ho." And then she finally gives in, and they justify it with, "baby, it's cold outside!"

Anyway, the melody's fairly repetitive, but the lyrics are cute. Our director says,

"Now guys, I know it's only late September, but we've got to get this chemistry right by December."

He continued on about how we needed to "flirt" with each other, etc. etc.
Our choir is 7th-9th grade, so he tells us 9th graders that he's "putting this on our shoulders."

The first time we sang it after this lecture he says...

"YEEEEAH! And it's only late September!"

Any chemistry that resulted from a song. wink

Neckerien (sp?) by Brahms and Minoi, Minoi both required chemistry. Minoi, Minoi is a Samoan song talking about dancing, so our director encouraged us to be a bit flirtatous to get the message across. The Brahms literally means "Flirtatious", so we ended having to figure out how to flirt while singing in rapid German. xd

The only example I can think of is when our choir singing "The Water Is Wide" aided the break-up of one of my best friends and her boyfriend (the tenor who, incidentally, has the man's solo). The words to the song are probably among the most depressing break-up lyrics I can think of (love's a jewel/when it is new...But love grows old/and waxes cold/and fades away/like morning dew).

Have any of you sang the Solubility song before? These are the only stanzas I remember. It's to the tune of "99 Bottles of Beer".

Potassium, sodium, ammonium salts
Whatever they may be.
Can always be depended on
For solubility.

When asked about the nitrates,
The answer's always clear
They each and all are soluble
Is all we want to hear.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the topic name sweatdrop

Don't worry, I thought the same thing, only with The Elents song.
"there's Antimony, Arsenic, Aluminium, Selenium,
Hydrogen and Oxygen and Nitrogen and Rhenium..."

If a choir falls for a song there's plenty of chemistry in it. We have one every year that sound better than others. This year I have to say my favorite is Glorificamus Te in Women's Choir. Last year it was Jubilate Deo. I love Latin as you've noticed probably.
