A fact: onmyouji had been a long dead cocept, until this movie brought it back to japan, from the grave. ironic, as that is what onmyoujis were believed to be able to do.

Abe seimei (the lovely eyed onmyouji) was a real person. just not as powerful as it is shown. just a royal onmyouji, and like most thing believed to have magic back then, porbably did not (i say probably because who knows what is true and what is not)

So onmyouji is like a shaman, or a magician?

There's a manga, Tokyo Babylon, based on the adventures of a high class onmyouji and his sister. Maybe that'll explain more(or just leave you thouroughly confused).

An onmyouji is someone who is practiced in the old art of japanese astronomy and magic called onmyoudo, based on hindu, buddhist, shinto, and taoist principles+ japanese magic beliefs. Thats was called onmyoudou. today you can take a course to be an onmyouji (namely a form os shinto preist)

I've heard of Tokyo Babylon. It's a CLAMP manga right? I looked through it and found it boring. sweatdrop But I'm rarely into shoujo stuff...

@Aiko: Thanks, that clears it up a lot. ^^
