Well, I believe that verse is talking about the way God made them. I mean, no human could have ever come up with such complex bodies. And how many species of creature are there? Millions! Creation is so wonderful that it glorifies God's beauty and "sense of style". But after the Fall, things weren't perfect anymore. The beasts started to separate into carnivores and herbivores and hunt each other. So when it says "Everything have breath praise the Lord" then it means to simply be like He intended us, created to glorify Him.

Well Isaiah says there will be animals on New Earth. Isaiah 65:17-25
Now I don't know if they had souls, but think of this. Death means your soul leaves your body according to John. "The body without the soul is dead" So how do animals live? Like the jellyfish. No brain, heart, blood, lungs, and yet it eats and moves. What keeps it alive? God said he breathed the breath of life into us, but I am not sure if it mentions animals in that way.
I think it is a good argument on both sides.

Ok, well from what I know, Animals were created, like us, but unlike us, God breathed life into us. I believe that to be the creation of our souls. So I don't believe they have souls. As for being sinless, they aren't. Before the fall, they were perfect beings, but as we fell, so did the world. Now, they obey they're instincts rather than God, basically the lowest place a human can go. Nature longs for God's restoration when Christ comes back and not only gives us new bodies but restores the world to its former glory. So I think animals are aware of God.

t0paz The bible says that everything that has breath praises him so I believe they are. I also don't believe when ppl say animals can't go to heaven because Isaiah speaks of seeing men on white and black horses, Angels also war on horses..so how can animals not be in heaven? Not only that but God uses animals as vessels too, the donkey, the rooster, etc. I think those horses were already in heaven and didn't die and go to heaven. Honestly when you say that they have souls your including all animals not just your pet cat or dog that are domesticated. When you see the general actions of dogs such as pitbulls being most aggressive and golden retrivers being more playful then most dogs, the only thing that comes to mind is instinct. Honestly if they had souls would God require the Jews to sacrafice lambs for their sins? Would he allow us to eat animals if they had souls? Animals do most of the things they do through instinct, and what they have learned. To explain the idea of your animal calming down when you pray, I believe that is God calming him down so your prayer time can be focused on him without your pet distracting you.

Animals most definately do not have souls. Man was created in the image of God. This means that we have souls. Just like God, our souls will exist forever. God came down to the earth that he created and formed Adam out of the dust and breathed life into his nostrils. Animals, however, were spoken into existence, just like the water and the land and the stars and the light. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate animals, but they are here for two purposes: to bring glory to God, and for mankind.

*Starts to wonder if anyone seems to read everyones post seeing how no body seems to react to others post, but for the original question* This actually goes for most threads in general. I know this is off topic, but it's very annoying.

My family has studied this for years because we had tons of pets growing up. when we were younger we came to the conclusion that animals dont have souls or spirits or eternal life.
just the other day at our family bible study we discovered in the bible that animals do apparantly have souls. also the soul is thought to be eternal. I will have to get the scripture and to study more about souls.
God has used animals but the devil uses them too. I agree with the samurai about animals not being sinless. when man fell in the garden the entire world fell into sin. nothing on earth was left uncursed. but I would not consider that animals could go to hell, we know very well that they are dumb creatures. if salvation was made for them, only God knows how they would receive it.
The bible speaks of animals in heaven, but they will have no relaionship to us (like our old pets). We will not even have relationships ourselves as far as family and spouse and parents. I will have to get that scripture too. personally I think the animals in heaven will be new creatures that God places there... well all of us will be made new when we get to heaven anyways sweatdrop
regardless, I am convinced that animals do not have a relationship with the creator as we do. They are by no means God's children, the bible speaks often about sons of God/god and children of God/god, and it is never in reference to animals. we are not animals, we alone were made in the image and likeness of God. He specifically breathed His breath into us to give us our soul. Animals praising God is what all of creatin was meant to do. even the rocks and the trees praise God and they do not have souls.
I plan on studying some more on the soul and the spirit, for Jesus said man has a soul, a spirit, and a body. I have yet to hear about animals having a spirit.
edit 3/23: An excerpt from Moody's book "What Christians Believe" says "The soul distinguishes a living being from a dead one, but the spirit distinguishes a man from an animal. The spirit of man makes it possible to have communion or fellowship with God." the passage goes on to explain that the soul gives all creatures their intincts but the spirit gives man his conscience.

Yeah, now I have a better understanding of the body, soul, and spirit. So animals should have a soul, but not a spirit.

I most definitly believe animals have souls. I can see it when I watch my dogs and cats. Living with humans they don't follow their instincts as much. My dogs actually look hurt when I get angry at them. They follow me around looking sad until I forgive them. crying They look at you with hope on their faces, and sometimes they even smile. smile At least one of my dogs can sense when someone is hurt or hurting and will comfort them.

Last i checked killing an animal is Ok by christian law/God's law. however the killing of a human being is a mortal sin. so what would the differance be? on the flip side Satan represents humanity as just another animal so i guess either they have souls or we don't.

Love.Your.Hate. how many of you guys believe that animals are just like us, only without the sin? i believe that they are just like us, because we are animals too. it's just that they are sinless, because the first giraffe didn't reach his great big neck up there to that tree for a bite of the apple. or the first fruit bat. but you get the idea. and pray for my aching head please! People aren't animals. A lot of people have started to think so since the theory of evolution came around. rolleyes Adam and Eve were created in the image of God. Animals have no consciences or standards. All that they do is by instinct. They may be able to have emotions, but this is of little consequence. Animals learn to have emotions around humans because instead of having animal-parents to teach them how to live, they have humans, which have emotions. Thus, animals either adapt emotions or mimic them for a desired consequence. It is true that animals are sinless, but so are blades of grass. rofl Animals will share the fate of inanimate objects. God does love animals, because they are his creation and their majesty testifies to his greatness and gives him glory. Humans on the other hand, are God's masterpiece. No matter what we do or believe, our souls will exist forever(Heaven or Hell). Guys, don't water-down scripture just because you love your pets.
