The following is taken from Frank Peretti's book 'No More Bullies'

***

History: This is the case of an 18-year-old white male who was the alleged victim of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head that occurred in the Columbine High School library on 04/20/99. No other history is available at the time of autopsy.

External Examination: The body is clothed in a bloodstained white T-shirt with the inscription "Natural Selection" on the front...

On his web page Eric Harris listed many things he hated, but Darwin's theory of evolution, particularly his suggestion of natural selection, stood in stark contrast. Harris's words are the hauting result of a playground in chaos:

YOU KNOW WHAT I LOVE?
Natural Selection!...it's the best thing that ever happened to the earth. Getting rid of all the stupid and weak organisms...but it's all natural! YES!

When we pause to ponder what Eric Harris was waering on the day he helped shoot to death thirteen people, we are well on our way to explaining why it happened.

Highly respected aothor and theologian Ravi Zacharias offered a profound insight in the days following the Littleton tragedy:

When we have told our young people today that naturalism is true-we have evolved from nothing more than some primordial slime, we have told them objective moral values do not exist - you decide what is right and wrong for you; when we have told our young people that there is no ultimate destiny; when we have told them that man is the measure of all things, that there is no transcedent basis on which to find out what life is about and what life's goal is, why then are we surprised when we see the hell that is unleashed by that kind of philososphy?

It's all perfectly logical: If evolution is true, then there is no God. If there is no God, then there is no fixed external source of truth and morality, then truth and morality are left up to the individual. If the individual judges that killing all the "stupid and weak organisms" in his life is justified and right, then by what basis can we question his judgment? He's only following the moral compass evolution provides.

God is a moral God, a moral law giver, and He has written His moral law upon the heart of every human being.

When people try and get around this, it makes for a wacky world. They'll often smack into themselves coming the other way in the same sentence:

"It's wrong to impose your morals on others!"
Uh...pardon me, but when you tell me it's wrong to do someting, aren't you imposing your morals on me?

"There are no absolutes."
That in itself is an absolute statement.

"No one's moral opinion is valid because we all speak from how we've been indoctrinated."
Well, I guess that would apply to you as well, which would mean that what you've just said isn't valid either.

"Everyone should be able to belive whatever they want!"
Then why are you arguing with me?

"Life is meaningless!"
Would you consider that a meaningful statement?

"You can't know anything for sure."
You seem rather sure about that.

"Students, no view of reality is superior to any other."
Then why are you grading our papers?

"You have no right to say truth is external! We all create pur own reality!"
Then I'm your fault.

"Oh, here we go agian, another right-wing fundamentalist making bold assertions of fact!"
Pardon me, but didn't you just make a bold assertion of fact?

"There is no right and wrong."
Is that statment right or wrong?

"You can't tell anybody they're wrong."
Am I wrong in going so?

Wow...how amazing.

People will go to any length to connect things to Athiesm in order to demonize it. Even...when it has nothing to do with Athiesm to begin with.

I'm beginning to notice it as a trend though. Anything that has mention of Natural Selection, or Darwinism, is somehow being used as a vector to connect what mentions either of the two to Athiesm.

For instance...some anti-christ singer says she believes in Darwism, and rejects the idea of Creationism or ID, and suddenly Athiests support Satanism.

One person kills himself or another person, and likes the idea of the weak wiping out the strong(as seen in some form or another in the Theory of Natural Selection)....and Athiests somehow support the killing of weaker beings...and thus are all immoral!

So what next? Is some terrorist going to get caught with a piece of paper on the topic of Evolution, and then "Athiests support Terrorism" will grace the front page of some book, or newspaper?

I heard about it. It was the milk-man who delivered milk to the village. He shot a bunch of girls in the one room school house, and then killed himself.

It still kind of hurts how people want to put so much blame on Athiesm. They want to connect every bad thing there is to Athiests...not matter how far out it is. Oh well, if they want to be ******** ignorant idiots, than let them be that way.

You know that if you dare speak up against the unfair and illogical accusations you become a target, and get trampled on. How does it go? "The shiny nail that stands up gets hammered down."

Yeah, it's sort of funny...I mean, does the word "atheist" really bring a good picture to people's minds? No, it brings a picture of a dark, sinister infidel. It's not a "good" word. We're not associated with "good" things, sort of like Satanism. There's prejudice.

If anyone curious, this is the very reason I walk into school every day with only the kindest of expressions, put up with every ounce of crap thrown down by my teachers, and sit quietly while everything I believe in is figuratively shat upon... and you know what? It's doing something. So far, only one of my teachers actually *knows* what I am, and he seems to be very understanding of that.

Hell, if this worked for the Christians after Nero...

Well... no. They had a tempting faith that appealed to the base needs and desires of humanity while fruitlessly trying to state a higher message. There isn't enough common sense these days to fill a thimble. -.-

I still don't get it. I guess the flawed logic is what bothers me.

The image and ideas that people often associate with Athiesm seem to be very similar to Satanism. So it is almost as if they are trying to meld the two into one.

But...You can't! It's faulty logic! You can't support Satanism and be an Athiest at the same time.

I think Addseale is right when he said "There isn't enough common sense these days to fill a thimble."

bah!

This is just another cheap shot, since atheists are loosely grouped, we make for an easy minority scapegoat.

A lot of those examples were bad too if you look closely, he is supporting his idea with very weak examples beyond the first three (those three were pretty cool) lol

Even if those examples succeeded, all he has proved thusfar is that it is all a hopeless struggle. I'm sure it could convert quit a few way ward confused souls, but he didn't do much to support himself, only tried to create the illuson of christianity looking better by de-faming atheists (Can you say...smear campaign) lol

He forgets to mention that people have bare standards, that people (PEOPLE...not religions...without the influence of a God) have done great things and created valuable sets of morals for themselves. Morals that helped make up a sytem of laws and traditions.

To sum up what this fundamentalist says above for eveyone here:

"Well, individuals are sooooo stupid. (Ex: Columbine shooting) We need a God and institution set up to tell us what is right based on this God, because we are all a hopeless group who wander aimlessly."

Hmm, okay mr.man....last time I checked, it was these same people who you critisize, using these ideas of individual guess work that will make, on behalf of this God and his/her morals for the rest of us.

Also, the idea that we need some soul food (comfort) that if we pray real hard we wont die forever but the exact opposite....fine....cool....But don't get the torches and pitchforks on the rest of us more empicically leaning folk...shesh.....take up a obby...like....sailing...or..something...

People got nothing better to do but harp on smart people. bleck....

That's on par with comparing Athiests to Hitler.
