Outdoor cafes were not something that Satika was familiar with. They did not have them at home, and the experiance of eating in open air was both unusual and strangely calming. Or, anyway, it would have been calming if there hadn't been an infant in her arms.
It was hard to be calm with Taima to deal with, at least, when Taima was in one of her moods. And the pale, strange looking infant was always in a mood of some sort or another. She even slept angry, tail waiving, all her extra legs thrashing.
So Satika sat, a cup of tea and a pastery on the table in front of her, the infant that squirmed in her arms keeping her from even hoping to reach either arm. At least, unless she wanted to lose a finger. The baby's claws were dangerous, and love being what it was, Satika could not bring herself to bind the only hands Tai had.

Now that things had settled down and Gabriel was no longer so confused about his home situation the boy twin seemed to be coming out of his self-made shell. Now reletively more outgoing than his sister, Gabe had insisted on being allowed to be in the front of the stroller than Mordread now pushed.
A not-so-happy Leigh was sitting in the behind seat pouting at the fact she had lost her normal seat. And Mordread? Mordread was just glad that the move to the big house had taken place and everyone was reletively settled in.
All that was left was the treehouse for Iamel and that was being worked on. Or at least aquiring the materials to do it.
So now he was strolling along with one pouting husky and one husky that was pointing everything out with excited glee. He needed something to eat to give him the energy to do the shopping he had promised Patrick he'd do. Turning into a nearby cafe that seemed to have people scattered about he noticed a woman.
With a squirming, weird looking child.
And Gabriel let out a squeal that let him know that if he didn't go over there he'd be getting it the rest of the night. So, abandoning his desire for a cinnaroll and a nice hot chocolate, Mordread pushed his children in the direction of Taima and Satika and canted his head.
"She doesn't look very happy."

Turning in a slow, graceful movement at the sound of a man's voice, Satika allowed her eyes to brush quickly over the stranger, though her gaze never hit his face and settled comfortably at his feet. "My apologies, sir. She is young, and we are yet new to each other."
Her voice was quiet, the tone deferential and serious, as was appropriate when addressing a strange man.
Carefully, she adusted the infant in her arms again, nearly getting clipped in the effort, and feeling the dull impact of Taima's leather covered stinger against her arm. That freedom, being poisonous, she had not been able to allow her daughter, as much as she might have wanted to. The pale scorpion reached, or seemed to reach, toward the twins husky children, in active curiousity. Whether they'd want to get close to claws like that, well, it depended on the value they placed on that fur of theirs.
Though her face showed nothing, and her eyes remained focused on Mordred's feet, Satika's mind whirled in confusion. Why on earth was the man pushing about a stroller full of children? Where on earth was their proper care taker?
Best not to approach the subject too directly. She would ask after the mother's health later, if the opportunity arose.

"You don't need to apologize," Mordread answered, raising a brow, "I was simply making an observation. My children are none to happy with me at the moment, either. Children are fickle that way, aren't they?"
The feline switched his tail slightly as he reached down to ruffle the fur of Leigh who, upon feeling her father's attention on her, immediately perked and made a soft yipping noise. Hearing it, Gabriel turned his head and look at his sister. Even then, it wasn't enough to take his attention away from the strange looking infant.
"Ooo?" he managed to get out, reaching a paw for the little white child.

"As you say." Satika's words were a murmur, as she moved her attention from Mordread's feet to the children sitting in the double stroller. Still, the question of what they were doing in it, with the cat man, was more than a little confusing for her. "It's unfortunate that you are left to trouble with them so. Is your wife ill, perhaps?"
Even as she spoke, Srilkat stood in one easy movement, her dark skirt swishing elegantly around her ankles. Moving forward, she took a step toward the twins, kneeling down beside their stroller, unheading of the way the ground might be bad for such delicate seeming silk.
"Hello, little ones." She greeted in a friendly, trilling tone. Taima's clawed arms were deftly caught and held, the infants strength nothing to be concerned about at such an age. She could hold her still when necissary.
Tai, confused by the other child's noises, glared as best she could, the frantic, angry clicking of her claws the only sound she seemed interested in making.

"Wife? Uh...Well, I don't have one," Mordread said with a small shrug of his shoulders, "I have a boyfriend?" he offered, "And about 15 other children at home. But no wife. And really, they're no trouble. I adore being with them."
At the mention of their family, Leigh lifted her head and offered a big, happy smile at her father. "Paaa!"
"Mmmhmm, Patrick." a pause before he figured it was a good idea to introduce all three, "I'm Mordread. The girl there is Leigh and the other is Gabriel."
When Satika approached the twins, both's attention turned to her and they gave her the cutest smiles that they could muster. Gabriel, on the other hand, went one step further and reached out.

If she had been more poorly trained, Satika may very well have stared at Mordread in surprise. But, she wasn't so ill brought up as that. Instead she put her fingers within reach of the one named Gabriel, a difficult task while still holding and holding down her own infant. But Taima was a tiny little thing, slighter and more delicate looking than the twins. And it looked like she was ten times as mean, but such was the nature of kids.
"Of course you do, Sir Mordread." Adapting to the language of the land had been simple enough with the help of a few of their mages. But still, there were... problems. Words with out equivalents. Sir was not what she wished to say, but the word she wanted would only be foreign here. "As you deserve."
Nothing further would be said of the wife. If the woman had been so unfaithful that he had been forced to disown her, or demand her death, it was best her name be spoken. Still, fifteen children, how terrible for a man to be left with such a burden. "I do hope some of those children are at least old enough to be of help to you in such a difficult time."
Taima was not happy about being held in such a way. Not happy at all. And while usually quiet, she was not incapible of making noice. "Eee!" A shriek, as she wiggled, trying to get her claws loose.
