Alex nodded to the appology. "Its sokay. I just get worked up over the memories. Being here on this island just really sticks in my crop some days..." He then realized that pretty soon, that would be pretty true, since he was turning into a bird, a crop would probably have to grow inside him at some point.
By now Alex had managed to look a bit more in control as he went back to eating his lunch, listening some.
"Filmmaker? Interesting. Heh, guess you're gunna be able to make that documentary now more as an autobiography or something like that. Me? Oh, company offered me a sizable amount of money to buy up Air-Asia Cargo's business and assets. They even offered me a job with the company. I could work for a few years for them, 'fly for the company', and when my time was up, I could buy the PBY from them for a reduced cost... It was hard to say no at the time. The company needed the cash, and... it just seemed like a good opportunity. Yeah right..."

Christopher banged his fist on the table a little as he broke into hysterics over the autobiography comment. But he sooned calmed down and placed another piece of orange chicken in his mouth. "Yes, I do suppose you're right. Although, won't be very interesting with just one wolf though."
Listening to Alex once more, Chris shook his head and finally pulled out his fork to have some rice. After swallowing, Christopher said, "You know, if there's one thing I don't understand... It's how the hell can Moreau afford to pull all this off. I mean financially, it must be pretty brutal. Can you imagine how many millions or billions or dollars is being put into this? It's insane! And do you know he's bringing children here too? What the f**k is wrong with that monster?!"
Chris took in a deep breath to calm himself. He was getting too worked up. Heck, when we began to rant, his teeth were bared and he was snarling some. All those thoughts enraged him. He really wanted to put it to Moreau, make that sicko feel the pain he was inflicting on others. But getting all angered over it right now in front of his new friend would do nothing. If anything, he'd scare the now ex-pilot off.
He shoveled another forkful of rice into his mouth and inquired, "So, what do you plan to do now that you're here? I'm actually working on putting together a film club myself."

Alex shrugged a bit as he worked on eating some more of his food. "How does he afford it? I'd assume that its done through a lot of subsidearies and businesses that actually work for the main one. Cover up the real order givers through layers of business red tape. I can only assume that the company that bought mine worked for Moreau, and was probably a legit company thats owned by Moreau. Its like any big company I guess. Lots of diversification. It hides stuff pretty well. At least thats my guess."
He finished another piece of chicken, and thought a bit. "Business wasn't something I learned much about. Most of what I know is from dealing with them with my own business. As for whats wrong with him? Who knows..." Alex didn't want to voice his opinion about the doctor too much. Not like his expressions hid them much as he gritted his teeth, chewing the bits of meat.
"What do I plan to do now? No clue really. Maybe wander around some, see more of the island. Try and not worry about my stuff. At least for now. I've got too much other stuff to worry about other than myself." That was true. He'd been trying to help a few others he'd met on the island, but he'd hardly call it much he was doing. He was just trying to be there to help them if they needed it. "Good luck with that film club though. Just promise me you won't remake the Wizard of Oz and I'm sure we'll be ok. Last thing we need is to give the folks at the lab ideas for weird stuff to do."

"Well that's good to hear you aren't withdrawn into yourself like many here," Christopher applauded Alex. "I mean seriously, some of these people are so introverted and depressed, it almost scares you to see them act different. I personally have no problem if what is happening to some of these people has them blue. But when they can only think of themselves and not even try to do anything to help themselves or someone else, it makes me want to become the razor blade vendor, passing out free samples and telling them 'You know what to do with this.'"
Chris switched back to the serving of orange chicken on his tray and ate contently as Alex continued to talk. After he finished chewing and swallowing, he replied, "Too late, they already do have bizarre ideas. One guy is being turned into a dragon, some snooty japanese actor is becoming a cactus, and one of the lab techs decided to become an islander and be changed into a cerberus. And boy, I tell you, she is crazy as the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland."
He picked up another piece of orange chicken with his chopsticks but paused and added, "Thanks for the sentiments though. Erik and I actually currently did a MST3K style spoofing of The Blair Witch Project. Also, I'm thinking of using the film club to start a kind of revolution on the island. Not something to cause riots or anything but just to get people to band together and stand up to what's going on. Using slyness instead of brute strength like most do. If you ever want to get involved, feel free to as I can always use extra pair of hands for filmmaking whether it be acting or a crew member."
After letting out that huge mouthful, Christopher stuffs more back in when he finally inserts the piece of orange chicken into his muzzle.

Alex nodded some, as he picked at some of the food on his place. He knew a few introverted folks on the island as well. Some of them at least had reasons though. "I'm not sure about the razorblades but... some of the folks here do seem a bit tramuatized. Then again, some folks react differently to stuff. Some of these changes aren't what some folks might accept rationally."
The pilot was about to take another drink of his coke, when he realized he'd finished it off a few minutes before. So, he took a slight break from the conversation to go get some more. It helped him wonder if he'd really be ok with what was happening to him, when he was more bird than human. "No, better not to worry about that now", he thought to himself as he returned to the table.
"Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'm into starting a revolution, even if it is on film." He chuckled a bit. "I doubt I'd be good at acting anyways. Birds aren't exactly known for a plentiful array of emotions they can show." He sipped his drink a bit.
"I'm sure I'll find something to keep myself busy... I just don't know what rigt now." And with that, he went back to trying to finish off his food.

Christopher nodded his head and replied, "Well that is true. Everyone does react differently. But I just find it ridiculous that some of these people make their own situations into something worse than it is when others here are getting it far worse. Not to mention the fact they won't even attempt to help themselves at least... just snivel the whole time. It's just after a while, you get tired of it and start to get annoyed is all."
When Alex got up from his seat and left to get a refill of his soda, Chris pulled out his camcorder to review the footage he had shot so far. From what he could see, it turned out rather well. Hopefully he could continue to match the kind of quality he had gotten thus far. Christopher put the camera back into its bag once Alex returned. "Welcome back."
Christopher joined Alex in his chuckling as he explained, "Well maybe revolution is the wrong word. But just something to inspire people to just stick up for themselves and try to get the idea across to that lunatic doctor that the way he's handling this situation is just... s**ty. I mean, for one, why not pick people who would want this done? Why deceive random people off the street into coming here? Not to mention lying to them. I mean he could at least explain the truth to people once he brings them here and give them the option if they want this done to them or not. Then if they choose no, knock them out, return them to their lives and make it seem like some dream. I mean, they can afford to do all the s**t they do to get us here so why not that?"
"Well, birds might not be known for showing a wide array of emotions," Christopher commented as he scooped up some more rice on his fork. "But a birdman... you never know. But I understand what you mean. If you do want to hang out sometime though, let me know. You seem like a pretty level-headed guy."
Chris finished the last bit of food on his tray and used a napkin to wipe off his muzzle. "Well, that was tasty. Definitely higher quality than most cafeteria food. Reminds me one time with one of my friends. He went into a cafeteria and saw what looked like chicken nuggets so he decides to buy some for his lunch. Once he sat down and bit into one, he found it was a nugget stuffed with corn! It was a f**king corn nugget. Can you believe that?"

Alex sipped his coke a bit, listening. He wasn't sure what he could say, that would sound like he knew what he was talking about. Eh, he had too much on his mind, so he sipped his coke some more, staring at the few ice cubes floating in it.
"You know, its not all bad. Sure there's the whole deal with doing a lot of really shady stuff, but they do seem to treat folks around here decent, or at least get them what they want up to limits. Not that I like being a bird in a cage..." He sipped his drink a bit more.
He looked at his plate, pretty clean of most of the stuff he had put on it, except at the bits that he had almost choked on. "Its a lot better than the stuff I used to eat over in Manila. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love noodles as much as the next person, but man was not meant to live on carbohydrates alone. Its nice to get some real food and I dont' have to worry so much about all the badness of not being able to afford it."
Alex set the glass down. "But I wouldn't mind hanging out, watching you film whatever. If anything, it'd be a good distraction from the normal stuff around here, getting to see a real film being shot around here."

Chris leaned back in his chair, his hands supporting the back of his head, as he listened. "While I do agree life here generally is not bad, I just tend to avoid all contact with the lab techs as much as I can. I don't even call them for anything. It's just not worth it. Kind of like making a deal with the devil."
He chuckled at his own comment and stood, dumping the ravaged contents of his tray into the garbage can. He walked back to the table, tail flicking some, and sat down. Christopher smirked a little and commented, "You know, tails are quite fun. Anyway, that'd be if you would like to watch me film sometime. I will say that you'd probably find post-production/editing more fascinating though since you see all the raw footage get molded into something comphrehensible."
"So," Christopher inquired, "Who all have you met so far?"
Chris took the final swig left in his bottle of Cherry Coke.

"Yeah, I can't say I want to have any more dealings with the lab folks than necessary." He sipped his drink a bit and then let himself chew on one of the ice cubes which probably would have made dentists around the world cringe, but he figured at some point, he'd lose them anyways. After all, he was gunna be a bird, or something, it would seem.
He shook his head, "Don't know anything about tails... yet. And I'm pretty sure tailfeathers are less fashion statements and more functional." He chuckled a bit and leaned back in his chair. "But sure, I guess I could at least take a look. Its not like my docket of events is too full."
The question about who he'd met caused him to raise an eyebrow. "Uh, well... lets see..." He tried to think about who'd met, but damn if he could remember names off the top of his head. He stared up at the ceiling, pondering. "Lets see, there's Alys, she's turning into a squid, this guy Nick... or Nike or something, he's turning into a cat. Uh, there's an old client of mine here. That was weird since the guy's got scales now. Hardly recognized him. Uh, who else... uh... Oh, the guy who helped me take Alys to the duplexes when she started her change. Uh... a few others. Damn, my memories either real bad or I'm just spacing out too much." The last comment was more a mutter to himself than anyone else but it was quite possible the canine-human nearby heard it.
