Its said that this is ThE best Final Fantasy game out of ThE whole saga. I myself haven't played it considering I'm to impatient to play turned based games. But anyone who's a Final Fantasy player at least knows this one in particular. Being ThE first 3-D Final Fantasy game out of ThE series, Having one of ThE best story lines makes this game a definite must have in ThE Final Fantasy series.
Top Five Reasons to get this game:
1. Sephiroth(everything about them)
2. Clouds giant buster sword
3. Tifa's gigantic...smile(If I had to look at those things all day I'd have an gigantic smile)
4. Vincent Valentine
5. First Black Guy in the series

Ive played all the FF series ever since the first one came out on nintendo. I agree that ff7 was most decidely the darkest.
But one of my favorites is ff2/4 Death destruction carnage. Party members that bite it. And not just one. Despite its now cheesy pixelated graphics that were 16 or was it 32 bit, the game was cool.
Also ff3/6 Best musical score ever for its time. Running secondly to chrono trigger (remember this was early 1990s when these babies were put out...) Great storyline, diverse characters, and at the time awesome graphics.
Id have to say that these are my faves followed then by FF8. Some ppl didnt like it, but the soundtract to the game was awe inspiring if you like dark choir and alot of orchestral scores. The only video game ending to ever make me cry. It was awesome.

all the final fantasies have their high points. obviously 10 has the best graphics, 11 is online, 7 has the best story, 8 has good music. but it really all comes down to 7. best story, best characters, best music, best secrets.first off... it is THE most talked about game in all of gaming history. more than mario, more than sonic, more than link, more than halo. and y? cuz areis dies. thats it. everyone wants her back! personaly, i never used her. y use someone who is only a healer when u can have another magic user use healing arts AND good attack spells? not to mention after u play it once u know u lose her soon so u dont want to build her up just o lose her. and her final limit is almost imposible to get. i mean u can get it, but being able to teach it to her is another thing. ive seen some pretty bad "cheats" to get her back too... "on thanksgiving (has to be thanksgiving cuz the ps2 has an internal clock) go downstairs and eat. then come back up at 612pm and pour gravy on the circle button and lick it off. go to her old house and use 3 tissues. then go to the chuch and she will be there. she will be at level 99 and be better than cloud." ive also heard that u can get sephy or zack... both bull. trust me, ive played the game about 30 times now, i know everything there is to know~! for gods sake, i can beat emerald in like 10 minutes wihout EVER using that goddamn knights of the round! i hate those who use it to finish off a boss fight... its not that hard to get, and it takes the fun out of beaintg him urself... and at any rate good luck trying to use it with mime to cause that endless chain... remember u still have to heal and when u do that chain is broken. and u reallyt have to heal every turn, even at lvl 99. ok well ive gone on a bit to long. so ill leave u with this. ff7 is the best game ever and if anyone thinks otherwise PM me and ill debate it with ya. late gamers, and always remember... "save and reset" is your freind ^_^

Yes, FF7 was (and still is) a great game if only for the mere fact that you fell in love with the characters so quickly, I never made it to the scene when Aeris(or Aerith...don't maim me I've always said Aeris) died but from what I've seen on the Reminence of Final Fantasy 7 trailers on the movie extras....I would have bawled my eyes out.

Indeed it was an awesome game. I would love to see them redo the game but with newer graphics and properly voice acted. But hey it seems impossible for Sony to actually put out games for their platforms that are more than two disks long.
If you like good Rpgs I highly reccomend the shadowhearts series. Theyre definitely more for the teen to adult adiences but great story lines, challenging and good music too. My favorite was Shadowhearts two. But three was pretty impressive even if the main female character was eye candy. razz

i have played all the series except the actual ff3 ff6 ff5 but from my understanding ff7 is one of the best but i prefer the older ones

I've played tactics, VII, VIII,IX,X,X-2. So far I only liked VII and IX both because of the storyline in both and also the characters. I've reserved XII I hope it's as good as people say and as good or better than the demo. Also waiting for XIII and Vs. XIII.
