While browsing through various items on legal matters recently I stubled upon the current weapons codes for all 50 states and while only reading a few of interest in addition to the federal bans I found and interesting irony.

In most states the bans include: Switch Balde knives, Gravity Knives, Concealed knives greater than between 2 and 7 inches, Locking knives, however there is rarely mention of a maximum leingth for a non-concaled single-edged knife (Such as a longsword, Katana, Rapier Spear etc.) and while the logistics of carrying such a weapon are quite unrealistic I found it interesting that by law, carrying a 36" blade in plain view (At least in Pennsylvania, Alabama, and more than a few other places) is leagal while carrying any switch blade or gravity knife is not. Apparantly the reasoning behind banning the swtchblades and gravity knives was to prevent juvinile delinquence.

On another note usually the exact wording on fixed blade knives was "Any blade of leathal leingth (Longer than 6" (sometimes a bit longer) carried in a concealed manner is illegal and penalties of..."

with a usual exception for carrying a weapon you found, or a weapon used in showmanship or was taken from an agressor in self defense.

Anyone else ever find something like this or just find this ironic.

**Note: By no means do I reccomend testing the authorities with this particular item, as differrent counties, towns, buroughs etc. have their own laws and 'well technicly...' isn't an incredibly strong defense.

Yeah, and in Kentucky a woman isn't allowed outside without carrying a 10 pound cudgel or ith a man.

In texas it's legal to shoot somone so long as it is at least at 10 paces and both combatants are aware of the action and are armed.

There is a law in Colorado that states that if someone enters your home and allegedly harms you or your property, you can shoot them. It is call the "Make my day" law.
