Tokyo Pop is okay...but there are deffinitely better publishing Co.'s out there.

what do you guys think about non japanese people making manga on tokyopop and also those disney manga
which i would never read

Well, I know of non-Japanese people who draw anime characters pretty well, so I suppose it wouldn't be that bad for them to make their own storyline to go with it. It wouldn't sell too well if they tried publishing it, necessarily, but it could end up sparking some people's interest.

Disney manga... Just sounds weird. They should stick to the comics they make in their own magazines, and that's it.

I like Tokyo Pop because they seem to have more mature titles. I love Viz but they bug me when they traslate sound fx on the page...I really don't want to see "Wonk", "Blam" or "KaBLAM" in my manga. It may say the same thing in Japanese, but it just looks cooler than English. I REALLY like what Del-Rey has done. They really take their manga seriously and even add cool little foot notes and trivia in the back of their books. There are a few others that are poping up. Like Drama Queen manga, the specialize in Yaoi but they have some regular stuff.

THe Disney things are horrible and I wanted to scream when I saw them. But the 'Amerimanga' phenomenon is just stupid. If it's by an American, it's a comic book--albeit drawn manga-style. Confusing,ne?

After all, doesn't 'manga' mean something similar to comic book? Eh? Eeehh? I think the Japanese actually have a name for those sorts of COMICS.

And guess what...I CALL JAPANESE MANGA COMICS, TOO! DAAAAAAAAAAAH HAHAHAHAHAHA!

And I don't see why people should be picky about the publishers. That's just narrowmidedness at work. If Tokyopop puts out a good manga (like....Pet Shop of Horrors for example) I'm gonna F*king buy it! Dah! IT'S JUST A BLOODY NAME, PEOPLE!
