Alright so in my school we have something called Trick or Treat street where little kids come into a club room and it has a theme. They get candy and so forth. Our theme, thanks to moi, is The Phantom of the Opera. We are thinking or doing a semi-play thing where we walk the children around act out a scene or so and give them candy. Making them involved with it so its not so much a 'look at this pretty room' type of thing is a lot more fun.

The problem is what to do. I have some ideas but I would like other phan's advice and opinions on what to do. I was thinking of having the lake but how would you make one? Remember it s a club and we have materials but limited fundings. We win and we get $500 towards the club. Phantom's the only way to go, if you ask me.

A Masquerade would be cool, where the little kids could dance, find hidden candies and so forth but I thought it a bit plain. So I thought why not lead up to that and have the Phantom make several appearances? But I am not sure what is good for small children. They will be from any age to about 10 or 12.

There will be people dressing up as characters (I already have my Phantom costume up and running) and we want to involved as many people as possible.

What kind of children sort-of-friendly PoTO Skits can we put up and win? I would love to gather ideas here. Please share and help!

I don't know exactly how you guys do yours, but we did something kind of like that with my old choir.
What we did was make it a sort of ghost story thing, with people dressed like Raoul, Christine, the Daroga, etc, leading the groups of munchkins scene to scene telling 'Opera Ghost Stories' (that were largely made up by us). We also had an Erik sneaking around, and you got candy for spotting him.

It's not exactly the same (especially since these were 5-12 year olds, so most of them were a lot more impressionable), but it might give you some ideas.

As for making scenes and things, there are a myriad of ways to make cheap props and sets. A lake might be a bit much since the only way you could do it with real water would be in a tub, and that would look hokey, but depending on your funds you could make a lair backdrop type thing, and/or a boat.

If you guys acually wanted a lake you could I guess just use like a blue paper for the floor. Have some art kids come in there with a couple different blue colors, and for the boat you could just make one that's big enough to fit Erik and Christine, and just add wheels to the bottom. I love the idea for a masqurade, and get everyone dressed up in pretty much just sequined dresses and such and masks. You guys are lucky that you get to that. But remember, for 10-12 years old, you can't make it too kiddy like, or they'll hate it.

Well, on the vein of the mini play, you could have the masquerade, and have Erik appear whenyou are ready to continue the story along. Have them follow Erik( by way of Raoul and the Persian) to the house on the lake and let the final scenes play out.

I'm going to a Phantom themed Halloween party.
It's not too phantomish though...
There just having us dress up in a dress and mask, like we're going to a Masquerade.

I like the second posters idea; you get candy if you see Erik.
And I think to theme it Masquerade would be easiest, because you need imagination, but the costume its self can be very simple.

Again, like the second poster said, there's an endless amount of skits you could do.

I think the second poster has the best idea so far xD

Thank you all so much! I did not mean to conufuse but these are very young children we are dealing with. i like the idea of spotting Erik and getting candy. very good idea. How would I work that into a play type thing? Small kids can be hard to amuse if they don't understand what is going on. How do I G-rate Phantom?
