He was sure he had everything he would need to amuse a toddler. Tristan was a little nervous, he wasn't the best with children. He was unsure why he had agreed to babysit Gavin. Then he would try and calm himself by reminding himself that he needed to learn becuase he would have a child of his own eventually. This just proved to make him panic more.
He had gone through all his vast library of movies to find all the ones that were okay to show children and had even manged to find a pciture book ("Where's My Cow?") in his collection of mainly academic books. He had Hamlet too and the puppy was alway good with children and seemed to especially like Gavin. And if worst came to worse he had dog food.
NO!
Tristan would not feed Gavin dog food if he messed up in some way and made the toddler sad. Sure he seemed to like it but it was a bad idea so he might as well push it to the back of his mind.
He sat now on his couch absent mindedly petting Hamlet to take his mind off the panic, petting an animal always made him feel better. God he hoped everything went alright.

One look at her last bank statement told Remi that she was back in financial panic. The alleviation of rent and other bills that came along with it had made her overconfident about how long her extremely small savings would last her. Therefore, she'd needed a day to start looking for a job. Or to write. She didn't know which. Writing was considered work, but getting a part-time job would support her better.
However, this could not be done with Gavin in the house, hence the reason for her desperately asking Tristan to babysit for a day. Hopefully just for one day.
She carried Gavin up the stairs toward Tristan's apartment. Gavin had finally calmed down from his grumpiness over the confiscation of the cool stuff he'd created that one night--though Remi had let him wear the ninja suit once before hiding it somewhere. No matter, he'd find it again somehow. That, and he was bouncing with excitement over seeing Hamlet again. Hamlet meant good food and petting of fur. Or feathers, depending on who exactly was doing the petting.
Nevertheless, he was looking forward to this visit. He made this perfectly clear by launching himself out of Remi's arms at the top of the stairs, sprinting toward the door, and banging on it with his tiny hand.

Hamlet perked up at the sound of the knocking and began to wag his tail. Knocking meant people and people usually meant petting. He jumped off the couch and padded over to the door where he wait for Tristan to get up and open the door. Curse a lack of thumbs.
Tristan got up slowly however, which caused the puppy to bark. Tristan took a deep breath before getting to his feet and going to the door himself. He opened the door and smiled down at the little hawk boy. "Hello Gavin, how are you?"
Hamlet went right to Gavin when the door opened and bark to show he was happy to see him, tail going a mile a minute.

And the knocking did bring petting. At least once the door was open, that is. Gavin squealed in delight to show Hamlet how happy he was to see him too. He would have barked, but he couldn't make the sound. He'd have to get Ina to teach him how.
"I good!" he looked up at Tristan.
"Thanks again for doing this," Remi said gratefully, having just reached the doorway. "Sorry it was on such short notice."

Tristan smiled down at the little boy, Hamlet and Gavin were so cute together, specially now that the puppy was licking the boy's face, he couldn't help but smile.
"It's alright," Tristan said, smiling at Remi as well. It wasn't like he was doing anything anyway except for sitting around and feeling sorry for himself. Plus he liked Gavin, he was a nice kid. "I don't mind and I understand about things that need to be done coming up suddenly. Uh, is there anything specific I need to know about looking after him?"

Gavin fell backward on the ground when Hamlet started licking him on the face. So that's how it was, huh? Not taking into account whether any of this was sanitary, he thought it only proper to try and lick the puppy back. After getting a mouthful of fur, Gavin started coughing and wiping his tongue. Yuck. Fur was good for petting, not for licking.
Remi wasn't sure whether or not to comment on that, so she kept to the original conversation trying very hard not to laugh.
"Uh, I don't think--," she said immdiately, and then caught herself. Well there was the whole thing with him waking her up in the middle of the night, but even Hadrian hadn't been sure what that was all about. Just in case, the least she could do would be to give the guy some proper warning,
"--Actually, wait. There was a strange incident a few nights ago with Gavin. I'm not even sure what happened, just that there was a loud noise and he somehow knocked himself out..." She thought she should leave out the part about the daggers showing up out of nowhere. No need to scare off potential babysitters. "Hadrian said to watch to see if it happened again. That's it, but I don't think it's really anything to worry about. As you can see he's fine now."

Tristan snickered a little watching Gavin lick Hamlet. It was adorable, very unsanitary but very very cute and that was what really mattered.
"Alright, even if it is nothing, thanks for letting me know. I'd probably panic other wise," He'd still panic even if he did know, he'd probably panic over small things, but that didn't need saying. Remi would probably feel better if she thought Tristan could keep his cool.
