Hello, i'm new to this guild, and am very intrested in learning more about
buddism, but i'm finding all of it rather confusing, first off, i cant deside
which 'type' of Buddist i'd rather become, and what to do about becoming
one, i have no idea if theres even a Buddist temple near where i live
where i can go to get advice. I understand meditation and what thats all
about. Basicaly can someone please explain it clearly and simply? i'm
sorry if this is difficult to do as you cant exactuly explain what a whole
religion is but if you post it i'll read it.

Don't worry about what type of Buddhism to follow. When the Buddha was teaching the Dharma to the first Sangha (spiritual community), there were not sects of Buddhism. There was only the one wisdom that he taught. You may choose a specific school of Buddhism later, and that's fine, but the point is to embrace it all. To get a feel for it. I'm a practitioner of Vajrayana, but I also take lessons from Mahayana, Therevada, and Zen as well.
There are no Buddhist temples where I live, but I practice regardless. I read what I can, and I discuss online. The electronic sangha is just as valid, and perhaps even more appropriate for the Western culture.

http://buddhism.meetup.com/ is a good site for finding other Buddhists where you live. Another good site that I like is called beliefnet.com It talks about different religions and there are online communities and a large Buddhist one. There are fourms exclusivley for Buddhist Teens where you can ask questions and talk to other Buddhists. A good book that I'm reading now is called Buddha In Your Backpack and it talks about Buddhism from a teen's perspective and Buddhist ways of dealing with issues teens deal with.
Meditation is basically a way to concentrate and help attain enlightenement. It is also just a way to help find yourself.
Hope this helped you.
May Buddha smile upon you.
