Hoshi no Sou *Flailscreampoke!* NaokoYouko this is the FIRST time I have ever heard that you cosplayed Kuronue! Pictures, I must see pictures! Surely you've seen mine right? I mean I have plastered them all over gaia sweatdrop (By the way this is Hoshi no Miko's mule.) So... picutres, please? I am always looking to see other Kuronue cosplayers like me we are very rare indeed! I know what it means when it comes to getting glomped too. Sadly this past year when I wore the new and improved Kuronue costume I made in August to Anime Evolution, people didn't seem to care... however when I wore the gem way back in 2005, people who had no idea who Kuronue was were coming up to me, calling me "The Sex" and then glomping the crap out of me. Goes to show how popular Kuronue could have been were he to have been in the series. o_O I could have sworn I mentioned it in the other thread....

A Wrath cosplayer nearly screamed when she saw me in the line for registration...
My tape wasn't working out so well that day.

Broken Hearted Hiei He totally should have been a character in the main series. 3nodding Yes, yes he should have! Yomi should have had the silly little ten minute thing in the movie and Kuronue should have been a demon king! *pouts childishly* @Naoko: Oh, now I remember seeing that image, I don't think it was in this guild though... Tis a very cool cosplay ^^. You used a WAY better colour scheme than I did. I mean conventional black is good, but in so many shots of the Yu Yu Hakusho movie, his outfit just looks like a really dark blue. Sadly though, blue pleather is hard to come by ><. Have I shown you my most recent Kuronue attempt? *Whips out picture because she's proud of it and it's just easier this way* The pose is stupid as s**t, but it was the only decent picture I got of the actual costume. I achieved my goal of making the whole thing out of pleather, that pleased me to no end. I also got a larger pendant too... Sadly though the wig died on me again, so I need to buy yet ANOTHER one... and the vest is not completely what I wanted. It's going to take more work but I might even construct a set of wings myself that look almost exactly like his. I want this particular cosplay to be perfect one day, and I want people to just stop and stare when they see it.

I remember kicking myself when I realized his outfit was black and not blue, but I prefer that color scheme better, myself.
I don't even really use a wig, I just tie my hair back. It's dark brown enough that it doesn't make much of a difference. Only problem is, it's not nearly long enough--although, I make a point not to cut it between about November or December to convention time in March.
I might use a wig this year, though, because I'm using a blond wig to cosplay Mello as well, and that works better if my hair's short.
I get a LOT of appreciation from the people who recognize me, though, so it makes me want to cosplay Kuronue over and over again. I may need to revise the costume this time around--I'd like to use a different shirt.

I may need to revise the costume this time around--I'd like to use a different shirt. Thank you, I was really proud of what I managed to accomplish this time around. I was only sad that this time no one seemed to know who I was and no one really complimented the costume. I really don't think you should kick yourself too much on the colour of his outfit. Like I said, in MANY shots in the movie, due to the lighting, it really looks like it's a navy blue or something. If I could make my outfit out of navy blue pleather I would do so in a heart beat. Personally I would love to be able to use my own hair for this particular cosplay... I might even consider doing that this summer if I get the chance to do this cosplay again at my annual convention. However I am concerned about that because I really don't want to dye my hair black and it is more of a cinnamon brown than a rich dark brown, so it would likely look really bad. I mean, I want to do Kuronue justice here! Wigs aren't all that bad though, just make sure you either have someone wear the wig for you so you can style it, or pin it to your head REALLY well when you go to put it in a ponytail. I've found that I needed to use SCORES of pins to keep mine from falling off ><. For me I like wearing my Kuronue costume even when people don't recognize or compliment me just because I am so proud of the work I have put into it. Really Kuronue's costume is the only cosplay I have that I can say "This is MY work, I put everything together myself and even did the sewing and things." With the other outfits I have worn I can't say that... For my Trowa cosplay, someone sewed the pants, for Tohma, I just bought a suit and some shirts, I bought my Edward Elric costume and with Eclair I had someone make and sew on a pair of poofy sleeves for me. With Kuronue all sewing and cutting on the vest is mine, I only bought the pants and wings.
