I just sent this to a moderator:Quote: Moonblossom was doing her job and attempting to help me, but it seems I'm too high maintenance for her, so I requested that she direct me to a mod more capable of handling someone like myself, and she just linked me to the mod list. You were the first one on the list with the same color name, you were online, and I remember you from ages ago as being quite helpful, especially when discussing shout boxes. It's quite lengthy. Sorry about that. D: I've included a copy of pretty much anything relevant, and at the bottom stated why I'm on this "crusade", if you will, based on all the evidence shown above. Original PM conversation Note: The quote in the center of the message is the original guild invite. I sent the message to the person who sent me the invite, then recieved a reply from another person from that guild. halo_master admin You have been invited by BelasVinn to join Fluffy Guild of Doom. This guild has an entry fee of 0 to join. This amount will be automatically deducted from your account if you accept the request. Please choose from one of the following options. [Browse Guild] [Join Guild] [Clear Invitation]BelasVinn has also included this reason for inviting you:
I saw your name somewhere and sent an invite, I don't know you and I'm not stalking you so don't send me nasty PMs, kay? If you want to join, that's great; we’d love you for it. If not, just delete this and get on with your life. We'll both be happy that way. Also, if you don’t want to receive guild invites you can turn them off in your profile so please don’t PM me to complain about it.
Note: Credit for this message should go to Tai Takahashi, because I'm too stupid t' think of something myself.Don't care for your guild, but I would just like to say that I could get your guild locked/deleted for spamming inboxs IF I reported you. icon_3nodding.gif Note: I'm not going to. Like I said, I don't give a darn. I'm just giving you a friendly warning. icon_smile.gif I know this from experience, so don't say it's not true. icon_domokun.gif You can turn off guild invites.. So you can't complain. Your liable. Don't whine. DJ Rubber halo_master DJ Rubber You can turn off guild invites.. So you can't complain. Your liable. Don't whine. That does not matter. o.O
I also have an email. With that email I can block certain senders, but still there was a HUGE thing about spam in emails. Congress, laws, etc.
And I wasn't whining. I specially said that it was a friendly warning, so that you guys don't lose your guild.
But just because you weren't smart enough to understand the concept of either my warning or the concept that you are indeed spamming inboxs I might just report you."Friendly warning" Whatever. Report me.. You did the same thing.. You don't have to spam the very helpful mods that try and make our guild grow, by whining about an invite. Original thread created about original PM conversation http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16928659 Conversation with Moonblossom Moonblossom halo_master Moonblossom First of all, if sending out invites a single time were against the rules, there wouldn't be the option to do it. He was not doing anything wrong when you threatened to report him. Secondly, a normal healthy conversation is in no way "abuse or harassment". He never once insulted you or attacked you, merely defended himself. I understand that you feel slighted by this, but nothing took place here that was remotely against any rules. If users like this bother you, turn off your guild invites and place them on ignore. "Harassment" is from the submission form, right? If so, I chose that because it was the closest thing on the list of reasons. There is not "other". Hmm. Could you explain to me then, please, how I am to recieve guild invites from friends? Can you explain to me why I should have to go out of my way, and disable a feature I use, when they are the ones that spammed my inbox?
What if my friend's guild is invite only? I can't request to join, and I can't get an invite, so how would I then get in? Are you telling me that I would then be forced to go back and re-change the settings? Or would I be better off asking my friend to change the settings of his guild? Or if he isn't the Captain should I ask him to ask the captain to change the settings?
How is this my fault? My fault for recieving an invite I didn't want from someone I didn't know when they clearly stated that they didn't know me, which I know is against the rules because another mod told me himself a long time ago when I myself invited random people like that? I don't see the logic.Further more: Quote: 4. Prohibited Conduct - BY USING GAIA ONLINE YOU AGREE not TO: (c) make unsolicited offers, advertisements, proposals, chain letters, or send junk mail, to other Members You cannot deny that an invite is an offer to join their guild, and you cannot deny that I did not solicite that invite, and thus, I was made an unsolicited offer. Can you now, please, explain to me how it was not against the rules? Also, my message which included: Quote: IF I reported you. Note: I'm not going to...I'm just giving you a friendly warning. got the response of Quote: Your liable. Don't whine. At that point was I offended, because not only did I recieve an unsolicited offer, but when I warned them that it was against the rules, even if it wasn't against the rules, I was insulted. Tell me, if you were called a whiner when trying to warn someone of something, would you feel fine and dandy? If you said "be careful, that's my money you're stealing" and the reponse you got was "You're liable, you didn't get the extra protection plan from your bank. Don't whine" would you be okay? I mean, you shouldn't have to get that extra protection, right? If that bad guy didn't do that, you wouldn't need to take measures to prevent his actions. (Oh, and please don't say that stealing is different from spamming and discredit my example...I was pointing out the similarity in breaking the rules, not the situation.)I hope I have made myself as clear as possible this time. So...can you please explain to me these things? The ToS bit you quoted refers to offsite advertising, and is in the plural, "offerS". It does not refer to a single friendly invite to an in-site service, or, as I said earlier, the guild invite option would not be available. There would be other ways to do it. You could also have chosen the high road and simply ignored the invite, rather than making threats towards the user. And in all honesty, if you find "You're liable. Don't whine." to be harassment, I would seriously consider not talking to random users anymore. I don't mean that in an insulting way, but if you find that offensive, I'd shudder to think how you react to real abuse. I really cannot see anything that he's done as against the rules, I'm sorry. If you have an issue with this, feel free to take it up with another mod. (God, she brought up "harrasment" again. -.-; ""Harassment" is from the submission form, right? If so, I chose that because it was the closest thing on the list of reasons. There is not "other".") They are spamming inboxes. No, they did not send it to me many times, but they are obviously sending it to many inboxes. The term applied to this act is "spamming inboxes", which I know is not okay from 1-2 stickies, which the admins have clearly stated are just as important as the ToS and Rules and Guidelines, and a mod himself telling me awhile back when I was new to the whole guild thing. *sighs* Let's see if I can get explain this in bullet form...might be easier for me to organize my thoughts. I recieve invite from random guild.I am insulted by the invite, it telling me it's my fault they spammed me.I hold my temper as I warn the guild that it could get them in trouble.I'm insulted again, and further called a whiner.I don't understand how trying to warn someone they could get in trouble is whining.I point out real life example of spam on the internet.I am told to report the guild. I then do.Moonblossom contacts me.She insinuates that I reported them for harrasment.I quickly explain that it was just the option on the report form, as there is no form for "other".I explain and quote the rules. She dodges the quote of the rule by saying it has an "s".I ask her the questions noted in bold and underline above. She ignores these questions and tells me to find another mod.I do so. And yes, "You're liable, don't complain/whine" does insult me. Please see the paragraph that is italicized for the reason why. I apologize for bringing this mess to your inbox. -.-;;; What do you guys think? x.x

As annoying as hell as it is to get random guild invites and PMs to vote for you in the Avatar Arena, I'm afraid that they do have a right to do it. In PM's, I mean. After all, that is the purpose of a PM, to talk to one person about anything you want. There's very little, if at all, rules and limits about PMing.
Next time you get an invite, just accept and don't post. Not only will it make them regret sending out random invites, they'll ban you for not having any posts. So you never have to worry about the guild again.
Also, keep an eye out for the "Why Not?", "Reality Bites", and "Synamic Darkness" guilds. They invite like ******** crazy.

I don't see what the big deal is all you have to do is click deny. If they send you another one that is reportable but the first one isnt.

K a l e c I don't see what the big deal is all you have to do is click deny. If they send you another one that is reportable but the first one isnt. 1. He insulted me by calling me a whiner and saying I'm liable. 2. They tell me to turn off guild invites to avoid something they are doing. If they hadn't been rude I wouldn't have given a crap. I like guild invites from friends/invites that have a reason. It's how I'm at this guild. I don't like invites that are copy/pasted messages. That is called spamming inboxs, and is against the rules. Note the (s) at the end of inboxs. Not a single inbox, but many inboxs.

For the record, I'm biased towards your cause, simply because I received that same guild invite. I just simply deleted it, I get those every month or so. Junk mail as it were. But it is however harassment, especially when you get told by the people who sent you that guild invite that you're liable to receive an invite simply because you exist, so don't whine.
Let's change the context a bit:
- You are a customer, walking around a store shopping.
- A taste-test personnel carrying a sample tray comes around and asks you to try a chewable Omega3 fat tablet (they're like Starburst candies without much taste, yuck). The personnel also says they don't represent the store, but they represent the product they're selling, and that because you walked by them voluntarily, you're totally entitled to be asked to try a tablet.
- You politely (although agitated by the awkwardness that this person has put the two of you in) decline said offer, saying you get your daily intake of "the good fats" by eating fish. You also say that you will complain to management about their tone and work methods.
- The clerk responds "Don't whine, you're the one who walked by me, and I asked you to try a tablet. If you didn't want one, you should have avoided me."
- You find a manager of the department and insist to have this awful person removed from their post.
- The manager tries her best to see your point of view, but gets confused. She shrugs and sends you to the store manager, because she couldn't help you (or she didn't want to).
Considering that, there's nothing normal with any of the above situation, I don't see how anyone can consider your PM conversations as normal either. That is definitely harassment via spam, and falls under the exact rule you found in the ToS.

I think you whine too much. Don't EVER argue with the British, that can't lead to anything good.
No, wait, that's not right. Why wouldn't I argue with something that is wrong? Because the mod has "power" and could ban me or something? ******** that, and ******** corrupt mods. Ah, I've got a better one!
I think you whine too much. Don't EVER argue with Hitler, that can't lead to anything good.
In fact, that's just what people did, and look what happened. Oh!
I think you whine too much. Don't EVER argue with President, that can't lead to anything good.
Well, that's only if you consider avoiding war part of "anything good".
Oh, and by the way, in case you are slow, I'll spell it out for you:
Y-O-U J-U-S-T G-O-T B-U-R-N-E-D , N-O-O-B .
Want me to put it all together? Alright.
YOU JUST GOT BURNED, NOOB.
Burned like a Thanksgiving turkey accidentally left in the oven on high for too long until the family finally notices the smoke, and raging flames, coming from the kitchen. Crispy.
I've gotten mods removed from power by questioning them, and reporting their misuse of power and lack of obvious logic when it comes to the following edict:
Break the rules = punishment.
I located a specific rule to point out in the ToS that had been violated. Why wasn't he/she/they punished? When I was ignorant of this rule I broke it. That's why I informed the original poster to be careful. I didn't really care. But he threw it in my face. What happened you ask, when I was breaking the rule, and how do I know? I got in trouble for it, thank you very much. I was warned not to continue and that if I did my guild would be locked for spamming inboxes.
Hell, I've made mods quit. One mod's friend got totally owned, by me, in a debate in Extended Discussion. So what happens? Mod disables my signature, without warning, because the "text in the signature exceeds the allowed signature limits". When the mod herself had text that was bigger than mine. Not to mention the 239074023 people on Gaia who had signatures with huuuge text. So I changed my signature to what you see now, then proceeded to report to this mod every signature I could find that "violated" the signature limit. It took me 762 reports before I saw that her name was no longer a color and her signature stated she had given up working as a mod. (Note: I used mules to do this, and made every message different. I also bookmarked every profile of the people and did follow ups to make sure the mod had done her work. If she didn't I called her on it until she did. Eventually she quit. Hahahaha.)
Once again, ******** corrupt mods, and ******** lazy mods, and ******** stupid mods.
Corrupt = always bad no matter where it happens. Lazy = not caring enough. You were given a job. DO IT. Stupid mods = Don't understand what I'm saying, and don't understand the specific line of text in the ToS I'm pointing to? Well, hell, how'd you pass high school with that logic? Or maybe the mod was purposefully trying to get around the rule so she wouldn't have to deal with the problem, which goes back to LAZYness. Come to think of it, ******** corrupt, lazy, stupid mods. Mods that are all three certainly exist. I've dealt with two of them. Now ex-mods! biggrin
Don't get me wrong. I love mods. The mods that do their job, that is. That is why they were given the job. To do it.
Note: Sorry if I'm being hostile, but this is bullshit, and it's obvious. I don't care if the mods have "power" or whatever. Doesn't mean that they're useful all the time.
Also, you came into my topic and insulted me. Whine? I see that you carefully, not, read my post, not at all in fact, and came to the logical conclusion that calling me a whiner would not upset me at all...actually, no, I'm obviously giving you too much credit. Go back to grade school.
Oh, and in case you are slow, I'll say it again.
You got burned, noob.

Well. Your post has rather intrigued me. I actually bothered to sit here for the last 10 minutes and read every single sentence.
First of all, i'll get the bit that may annoy you out of the way. Although i understand your point, you way over reacted. All you had to do was press deny, and that would have been it-problem solved. Also your 'burning' just above was slightly harsh-he was simply stating his opinion, and although clever, it was not necessary to compare the mods to nazis and so fourth.
BUT I am exactly like you-i wouldn't have probably left it either. The noobs that sent you the pm should have sent an invite, not a message. They can't just randomly invite you without any prior knowledge of you, and especially in such a tactless way-it's clear to me, and hopefully anyone else reading that they are idiots. I feel moonshine too was not short of being an idiot-although yes she did try to help, half the time she ignored what you said, gave simple short answers without any advice, and seemed slightly bias. I don't believe you should have to change your settings just because one guild can't get users without being tactless noobs.
I feel you should now leave the matter. It's one guild, and it isn't worth your time. They're probably revelling in the fact somebody is talking to them. Although harsh at times i feel you put a well thought answer out, and are obviosly quite smart. Being smart, you'll see there is no point in continuing disscusson with any more moderators, unless the noobs bother you again.
I also feel you should quit gaia..and go be a lawyer. You'd be good. Very good.

lololololol, this post is sooo old. I'm so over it and don't care to even think about it, really, but I will say...
That mod is still wrong to this day, and I'm right. >.> (I just re-read my arguments...she completely ignores them and tries to get off on a technicality. SO annoying.
GOD I hate stupid people.
And now! It's time to go on about something unrelated for a long time in order to forget about the above topic.
Yeah, people have said that to me. People have said I should be:
A lawyer (heard this about 20-ish times, because of my argumentative abilitys.) A doctor (5-ish times, because of my ability to absorb information about the body. I remember like everything even though I don't try.) A writer (50-ish times...people really like this one, because of my writing. I suppose it is because of my ability to manipulate the written word into something that greatly affects people. At least in their opinion...to me I just write the most logical way possible.) Game designer (1928471826 times. Geez.) Artists (1241209 times. Geez again. So what if my art is awesome...so is a million other people's.) Musician (5-ish times. Apparently I "know" music. Like the beat, the way it flows, the way it works. That's all fine then...I just want to listen.) Singer (50-ish times. I have a really good singing voice. Like really good. My Dad is a singer. Oh well. I don't like the attention.) Architect (20-ish times, because I'm good at making blue prints and designing awesome buildings, apparently, according to the schools' architecture teacher. Whatever.) Engineer (30-ish times, because I'm good at building things.) And a bunch of other s**t I can't remember a million times. I guess I'm lucky and -really- good at a -lot- of things. Well, too bad, I'm gonna waste my potential because:
I don't want to do anything...website design as a side job, perhaps, but I'm fine with just working at Blockbuster forever. *shrugs* The only skill I'll always put to use is my ability to be a god at pretty much every game I play.
