Okay, here's a pretty good question for you all, which do you prefer the subbed version of Azumanga Daioh, or the Dubbed version. Me, I like the dubbed, except I find Osaka's voice weird. I'm used to it now tho. Also, does anyone know where I can find episodes 15+ of Azumanga Daioh Dubbed?

I prefer the Subbed version. The voises sound better and your also having the ths in sync. Also n the dubbed version they tend to make the more adult situations on the show into more kiddy type stuff. (as they do in many anime's). So like all the shits and ******** and sex orientated stuff and everything is replaced by new lines. So instead of Yukari saying (as in the first episode of Azumanga) "s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t SHIIIITTT" and then swearing and carring on about the bike it is replaced by a more Western child friendly word.

I don't know where to find the dubbed version anywhere on the net. Because I have eps 1-26 subbed on my comp and (yay) burned onto discs using a program that gives exelent quality.

Yeah, I also prefer subbed. Like Onicept said, they change a lot of adult subjects to make them child-friendly, as if all animations including japanese anime should be suitable for kiddies. I find the dub voices really annoying as well.

Yah, you both put up some good arguments. But they don't usually change the themes, sure they change the "s**t s**t s**t s**t...", but for the most part, the idea is thill the same. she still says "damn this is pissing me off", they still compare boob sizes a lot, kimura is still a pervert, and Nyamo still says the perverted stuff, or weird music block stuff when she's drunk.
But yah, some of their voices do take a while to get used to, I'll admit that.

Also, you can find episodes 1-14 dubbed on www.youtube.com
Just search for "Azumanga Daioh - RedButterfly" (without the quotes. RedButterfly is the username of the guy)

Azumanga is Azumanga regardless of language. It could be in english or japanese and I'd still get the same laughs since I've seen both versions, I
mean I even saw a version in spanish and it still made me laugh so hard I had to stop the video to catch my breath. Besides It's not like the "s**t, s**t" part is the best part of the show, What you ought to dislike is when parts of the series are censored. I don't really care about language since I just love Azumanga, even if the dialogue were to be a little changed it still conveys the same message.

Thats a very good point! But I still like the Dubbed because I love how cute Chiyo sounds. Sure she is cute in Subbed, but I just find her English voice more adorable.

I actually think Chiyo's voice is more annoying in the dub.

Oh and also, don't trust dub DVDs that can be changed tio japanese with subs. Because I did and the subs are pretty much the same as what the dub characters say.

Just to warn you in case you like the actual japanese translation.

I would have to say I like the subbed best. The fact that Yukari is an english teacher fits in more with the subbed..... if that makes any sense to anyone else.... sweatdrop

I don't really follow. Japanese people still have English class. And their classes would probably would be near the same.

I liked the subbed way better.
It's probably partly due to the fact that I heard the japanese voices first and that's what I'm used to.
I watched part of a dubbed episode and didn't like the voices very well.

Dubbed...I watched the episode (I think number five) where they go to Chiyo-Chans summer house about 3-4 times in its dubbed version on youtube...At first Yukari-chan sounded really weird but I got used to it...Now they hve alot of the episodes on youtube but they re subbed which is good but dubbed would be better so I dont have to read xp

Well, also when they are in the summer home for the last time, Yukari speaks english for them, it soulds alot better in the subbed version then the dubbed.
I also like reading the subbed versions. biggrin
