in action movies, whenever you see an actor leaping from one burning building to another, you can be sure that the dangerous act was not performed by the actor himself. someone else trained to do such acts would have replaced him in that partcular scene. a person who performed such stunts in movies is known as a stunt man.

altough there are a few actors who sometimes perform their own stunts, movie directors and producers usually prefer stunt men for the dengerous action scenes. actors are nomally not permited to take on the kind of dangerous work a stunt man does, simply because they are not trained for such work. even a simple fall, is not properly done, can result in injury, which could mean costly delay in the shooting shedule.

an experienced stunt man works clostly with the director and the special-effects team. in big battle scenes, the cheif stunt man will decide how many stunt men and trained horses will be needed.if twenty thousand men are involved in a battle scene, about a few thousand of them might be stunt man, who will do the fight and take the falls. the rest of them do not perform any stunts.

i like actors/actresses who do their own stunts better. I mean... that's the real person doing the real thing, not some imatation guy.
