Some parents put parental controls, which blocks the internet and/or instant messaging programs at certain times, for their kids. Do you think this is fair?
My Opinion:
I think if your child is under 18 then parental control would be best. Now these days lots of bad content shows up on most WebPages. And lots of sex predators are out there.
I have parental controls on my computers i was angry about it but it protects me from bad content. A few of my friends in real life was victims of sex predators and got addicted to porn.
So what do you think about parental controls?

Yes I love parental controls! they are very very safe! i use them when i'm watching kids at the daycare or something

I like the idea they are safe but I hate the way you can't go to certain sites, if I put mine on I can't come here to gaia...

It's safe, but it F**N' sucks!!!
Well, I'm probably saying this because I'm 13. But our parents are so paranoid now these days. In my opinion, here's my message:
Parents:
If your child has sense enough to back off Dating/Social sites, they'll be OK. Plus, let them mature enough before you allow them on the internet (like the age of 13, they should be at least mature by then)...
Youth:
Stop taking the e-mails/IM's from unknown people. Ask them question's like "Do you know me off a website?" or...Well you get the idea. And if they don't give you a specific answer, you block them yourself. Don't let the parents find out, defend yourself as a lesson of growing up...
Like I said, this is my opinion. So if you disagree, oh well...

for 12 and below I would understand it, but seriously, after that, not only are people thinking about sex, but they are trying to watch porn and go to thoes nasty sites. Trying to stay safe is fine, but parents shouldn't just block a child off from the world, they should inform them about the dangers. I know if any of my children got some sex predator to my home, not only would I kill the b*****d (b***h) but I'd also make damn sure my child realizes how dangerous.
KaiAN-Chan-Lucky I usually go onto msn messenger and usually never AIM because of that bullshit.

I think that parental controls are a good idea but some are just stupid! Like this one my parents once put on my computer it wouldn't even let me go on the google homepage! hehe I guessed the password and took it off straight away! lol

I agree that some parental control is safe, but when your parents go overboard (my grandmother actually tried to block Gaia from me once. I told her to stuff it..) it's just rediculous. Personally, I have no child blocks on my computer, or TV, or anything else, and I'm fine with that because I know what sites not to go on. So I agree that young kids should be blocked from, like, porn sites, I disagree that it's right for everybody. Every one is different.

parental controls suck! I mean they are very safe but when the go
overboard(like that one time my dad locked the control panel on
our microwave confused ) i just wanna tell my parents to F**k OFF!
i dont really have any parental controls anymore tho.
(thank god!) they think im mature enough (keyword = think rofl )
But when (and if) i become a parent ill probly use them.
