"Same difference." The pale feien muttered as he brought slender fingers up to brush a lock of ebony back behind his ear. "If, by your definition, a knight was just someone holding a title, why would they come up with codes and honors? Hmm? There has to be a reason that they were expected to act in such a way. It's actions too, not just the title." It was also the castle, he was convinced. One had to live in a castle... With a little round table.
"Research, it seems, is like a maze. It has many dead ends and different forks in which you can learn many things... And eventually you find what you're looking for in the strangest of places, be it the middle or the end." She nodded.

"So these big guys with swords wouldn't go around pillaging and burning and cutting up other people who didn't have swords." Ravi answered with a little shrug. He wasn't one for romance and chivalry apparently.
"No, no dead ends really, just obstacles that seem like dead ends to individuals without the patience to search for a path to lead them around." Silas offered, smiling slightly, "But yes, discovery is never a straight road immediately forwards, or we should all already know everything."

"Of course not!" He seemed taken aback by the entire idea. Knights? Attacking people? Never! "They are the ones who defend against those who pillage and burn and destroy... Everyone knows that."
"Patience, it seems, is a virtue that so few seem to posess in these times..." Words such as those seemed so strange when coming from a young woman such as the one who stood there before the gentleman. "Most like to zip through things in life... Where is the fun in that?"

"Don't read about the crusades then." Ravi answered, apparently giving up on correcting the two other feien. They were more confused optimists then even Silas was, at least Silas was sometimes realistic. Only sometimes though...
Silas was taking a moment to look at the young lady more carefully, "I have found that patience is a rare virtue in most times and places. I admitt to only posessing a modicum of it myself. Though I agree, it seems a general concensus among most people that the outcome will be more interesting and important then the process, and so the latter is to be rushed."

"Crusades?" The darker of the two feien seemed interested for a moment... But that moment was fleeting enough and he made a mental note to pester his Lady about it later.
"It is better to have some of something than none of it at all though, isn't it? And yes... The end might be far more interesting than the begining and the middle... But if you rush through them you might not understand the end as you may have had you taken your time with the other parts. It's like... A good story. If you skim through the pages you might not understand the last page and that last page could be the most important page you read."

"Nevermind." The green haired feien muttered, shaking his head and folding himself to a seat on his bonds shoulder. "Just the difference between stories and history."
Silas smiled warmly, "Oh I quite agree. I should go so far as to suggest that the process can often be a great deal more important then the outcome. Otherwise one might as well simply allow others to do the investigation and present you with the specific answer you wanted."
