User ImageThe small female cub romped around in the shallows of the water, her grandmother not far from her. They had taken the morning as a chance to spend some quality time together. Tanashita wandered off, leaving the cub to her own devices for a little while by request. Tana was amazed at how thoughtful the cub was, how resourceful and independant. And at the same time, young Tui'lian had a sense of family and loved them all.

Chasing a fish around in the shallow water, Tui bent her head to drink and her pink tongue lapped at the clear liquid. It was a perfect day in her eyes. The sun was shining, but it wasn't too hot out, and a light breeze carried the scents of flowers and trees to her nose. She breathed in deeply and smiled brightly.

Tui finally tired herself out by chasing the fish, who had swam off somewhere deeper out. She padded over to the grass at the lakes bank, and sat down, watching birds fly around overhead. She wondered what it was like to fly, and her overactive imagination begn to conjure up images of what life would be like if all animals could fly.

If you have trouble reading my chicken scratch, let me know. XD <3))

The sleeping goddess had been roused by the sounds of splashing, not to say she'd been that deeply asleep to begin with. As her term progressed she grew more restless, often looking forward to her mate's visits, when he'd reassure her that he still wasn't going anywhere. By now she was fairly certain that three new lives were on the way, and only hoped to the high heavens that she and Ororo would be good role models for them. The only thing she feared was Ororo's short time. Mortal lives passed so quickly to the gods, especially young ones, who were experiencing "immortality" for the first time.

But, for now, she let the melodic splashes and giggles outside draw her attention, and rose to her paws with only a bit of effort. She hadn't revealed herself to many of the pride, just the priests (Mteuli and Mteule), Ororo'Lisani, and Kiamba'Roho. But this one sounded young, and, goodness, if Kiva had one weakness it was children.

The goddess padded to a stop on the bank of her shrine, not wanting to startle the other by drawing too close, too fast, or making sudden movement. Still, a soft smile came to her maw as she watched the little one transfixed by the birds over head, and Kiva couldn't help but call out, her voice reaching across the lake.

"Lost in thought, little one?"

((xD Your handwriting is better than mine! xD And thanks, that makes it more clear. 8D <33))

Tui jumped as she heard the voice behind her, and she turned, her expression one of bashful silence. But as her pale eyes settled on the creature that had spoken, they widened, until it looked as though they'd eat her entire face. Her mouth hung open a little, as she stared in silent awe at the Goddess before her. Even though she was across the lake, Tui could easily make out the fact that she had wings, big, beautiful wings, and that she was indeed a special lioness. The cub had no idea about Gods or Goddesses, and she thought for a few moments that she was imagining the lioness. She shook her head and closed her eyes for a moment, then peeked them open again. Still there.

"Uh... I... You... Um..." She stuttered, trying to form words though they wouldn't come. "You're beautiful!" She finally blurted out, the only thing she could think to say. She flattened her ears against her head and sank down a bit, embarrassed. But she dared not take her eyes from the lioness again, in fear that she'd dissapear if she did.

((Well, I'm glad it's a help rather than a hinderance! XD *so lazy*))

Kiva's heart felt lighter as she watched the cub's phases of shock, and finally she couldn't help but chuckle lightly at the final outburst. She knew Tui to be one of Tanashita's grandchildren (she was kept up on current events thanks partly to her own doing, and largely in part to the priests.), and therefore, not born into the pride, but born of it all the same. It wouldn't make any difference, regardless, but in light of this fact Kiva would venture a guess that she hadn't been told much of her yet, if anything. The boys really should start teaching the young ones soon, hunting, among other things.

With a mostly un-needed flap of her wings (it did make lift off easier, especially with her late pregnancy) Kiva sought to close the distance between them, landing easily again on the other side. She regarded Tui with kind dust-amethyst eyes.

"There's no need to be shy, Tui'lian, and thank you. You're quite the beautiful little lioness yourself." She smiled scincerely.

((xDDD <33))

With still wide-eyes, Tui watched as the lioness gracefully flew over to her. She backed up a bit as she landed so close, still in shock and awe of the winged lioness. "How... h-how do you know my n-name...?" She asked, her voice soft and shy. "And... who are you...?" Her eyes scanned the other, taking in her unusual markings. They landed once more on her wings, and her young mind took in the fact that there really were winged lions! Lions that could fly! A small grin spread across her maw as she watched the Goddess, her mind racing with questions now.

"How did you get wings? Are you magical? Who's your mommy? Are there other winged lions? Where are they? What's your name?" The questions poured from her mouth in a flood of words, and she smiled brightly up at the other, her angelic face beaming with excitement.

"Slow down, slow down, little one!" She laughed softly, settling her temporarily expanded girth down. "One question at a time."

Yet there was nothing but patience in Kiva's tone, and she placed a paw atop of Tui's head in an affectionate big-sister type gesture.

"My name is Kiva, and I know your name because I watch over your home, this pride. I've known your father and grandmother since they were both still cubs just like you." She winked. "I'm the goddess of Unity, most gods and goddesses are born with wings. I do have some powers that, I suppose you could say are magic? And my mommy is Mkodi, since I'm a bit too old to have a real mommy." She smiled again, lowering her paw again. "The other gods and goddesses are spread all around the world. There's a god of Connections, a god of the Sky, a goddess of Seperation, a god of the Moon, a god of the Sun.... just about anything you can imagine, dear."

Tui smiled sheepishly at her reaction. She nodded and listened intently as she explained though, and at the mention of poers she grinned brightly. She waited pateintly for her next wave of questions as the lioness finished. "Really? There are Gods and Goddesses? I didn't know that..." She said, her expression dreamy.

"You have powers? What kind of powers?" She asked, standing up and looking to her with excitement. "Can you show me?"
PostPosted: Fri Sep 15, 2006 10:24 am

"Show.... hmm..."

Kiva regarded the young chocolate spotted lioness and seemed to give her request quite some thought, a slight frown creasing her muzzle. Showing was a bit of a challenge, since Kiva's powers were more.... unseen. She supposed, perhaps--

Still seated, Kiva pivoted enough that she could look to the lake, and began to direct a mental call towards the toads she knew resided at it's shore near the taller grasses. Sure enough, just moments after she made the effort one came hopping forth, though warily. She soothed it reassuringly and urged it closer, until it sat before Tui'lian and gazed up at her for a moment, then turned and headed back for the lake with a resounding splash as the urges left it. "My powers have more to do with your emotions than anything physical. I can call other creatures to me, though." She smiled a bit and glanced upwards as a bird passing overhead took it's cue, chirruping a song as it flew in to circle overhead. "Not incredibly impressive though, is it?" She chuckled, easing to lie down facing Tui, and tuck her wings to her side.

Tui watched as the frog hopped over, and she tilted her head to the side. "Wow!" She said with a grin, smiling brightly at her. "That's amazing!" She said, watching as the toad left again. She saw the bird circle down to them and grinned once more. "You're amazing." She said, looking back at Kiva.

"So you know all about all the lions in the pride?" She asked, settling down as well to lay down like her. "Even my daddy and mommy and brother?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 16, 2006 9:35 am

"All of them, though some not as well as others. I know that you have a very large family." Kiva smiled maternally. "I can feel each and every bond between you, it's like a gigantic tree."

An animated, night sky colored paw reached out to poke Tui in the chest lightly, a grin dancing on the goddesses' maw as she gestured to the cub's heart.

"The branches are all very strong, and some of them are very old. I've known your mother since she was little, and I knew her parents, grandparents, and great grandparents before that. Your brother and mommy I'm not quite so familiar with yet... since they were born outside of the pridelands I haven't really had a chance to watch them yet, but what I don't know I learn from the priests. You know them, don't you? They were twins who welcomed your family back into the pride with the queen."

((Which... XD;; you know, we'll just pretend happened since we never get around to actually RP'ing that kind of stuff?))

"And I'm very happy that you all are joining our great big family here, Tui'lian."

((xDD Yes yes~))

Tui smiled brightly up at the Goddess, her eyes sparkling. "I'm happy to be here!" She said with a tail wave. "This place is wonderful. I've never seen trees so large, or such big lakes and things before! It's such fun to explore here." She said with a grin. "I cna't wait 'till I'm older so I can explore by myself." She said and stood up, leaning down with her rump in the air.

"I also want to hunt." She said, and promptly pounced on top of a frog that had made it's way towards the two. She released it again with a grin. "But daddy told me that we shouldn't kill unless we really need to." She said with a nod and a serious expression. "All life is prec... prec... prec-ius!" She said with a grin as she tried to pronounce the word.

This time the smile was one of praise, proud that those that she looked after had such a respect for life. It was one of life's most important lessons, as just like the Pridelanders believed, there was a balance in all things.

"That's very true, we have to be responsible and make sure to protect the balance between us and all of the other living things." She responded softly, purring to the little one.

Tui smiled brightly at her and nodded. "Yup yup! That's what daddy says, too." She said with another big smile. "Will I meet other Goddesses?" She asked, cocking her head to the side. "You're very interesting." She said with a nod, flicking her tail again behind her. "What were you like whe you were my age?" She asked, so full of questions. lot of times the young lioness seemed annoying to other creatures with her prying and curiousity, but Tui really just had a hunger for any information she could get. Especially if it concerned the creatures around her.

Before the Goddess could answer, Tui heard the unmistakable sound of her mothers voice, calling her name. "Oh no!" She said, looking up at the Goddess with big, sad eyes. "I have to go! It was a pleasure to meet you, Miss Goddess!" She bowed a few times, unsure on really how to be polite to someone so powerful, and she then scurried away across the plains back to her mother, though she would never forget the strange lioness and the amazing incident of that day.
