As far as I know, every game bearing the name of "Final Fantasy VII" has been not only offline, but strictly single-player. And most fangames seem to follow this trend, so I think you're out of luck. Sorry, man. neutral

Of course, you could just do what the rest of us do: design your character in whatever other online game you play to look like your favorite FFVII character. 3nodding

If you ask me if a FF7 Online game comes out it will play ALMOST EXACTLY like a combination of FFXI and a upcoming game based on the pseudo RPG Shenmue called Shenmue online. why Shenmue Online? well I'd imagine that in FF7 Online you'd choose to be a part of the various factions in the FF7 world, ShinRA, Rebels, Wutai, etc. just like in Shenmue Online, and you'd be able to go into higher factions like The Turks and AVALANCHE.

the problem is the limited amount of protagonists and antagonists which limit this possibility
true FF7 is still ridiculously popular, creating an MMO would be hard....
first of all the fact that you really can't be any main char's in an MMO ff7 (for the sake of fairness and to prevent harsh feelings) kinda kills the adventure a tiny bit, and that everybody would try to get their characters based on a main character
secondly it takes a quite a bit of effort to create an mmo, especially one that's based off an existing game, and still make it fair for everybody who plays
the thing about mmo's is that most of them are not based off of games (ok WoW really doesn't count since there really was no attachment between the heroes of the RTS games for anybody to want to be like them) so everything can be new, and so nobody TRULY knoes what and who is the best until somebody gets there
