It was strange for her to be out and about on a day like this. Beautifully sunny, fresh air-

"And not a damn sea breeze within miles." Freija cursed as she plopped herself down on a bench along side the gravel road.

The park was quiet for this time of the day. It was the heat of the day and only a few had ventured out to enjoy it... if it could be called enjoying. The heat index had to be over 85 degrees.

Freija sighed as she relaxed against the back of the bench. Head rolling back, eyes shut. Silent shade floated from the large maple rooted a few yards away. Gazing up into the branches, sun escaping through the leaves, her elegant trogan fluttered through the tree tops. His colours drastically controversial to his sourroundings.

"I'm sure you're enjoying this. You must be use to these temperatures." she said up to the bird. The trogan, after settling on a branch, looked down at her with a tilt to his small head, with a questioning look of 'Why aren't you?'

Leaning forward once again, she propped her elbows on her knees, resting her chin in her open palms, eyes waundered out to a lone ice cream trolly. An elderly women, buying her grandson an ice cream. The child's beaming face, making the whole day float away on it's rays.

A quiet flutter near her ear brought her attention back to where she was, memories fading away on the wing's faint breeze it stirred.

The colourful bird nipped at Freija's hair giving her face a smile. Reaching over and petting the soft feathers, bringing the bird to a preening pose.

"Yeah... you're enjoying this, all to well."

((Kinda long, but I figured the first post of an RP should be detailed. biggrin Anyone can jump in if they want.))

Xaxs was pleased to be so tall. The actual growing process had hurt very bad, but now that he had a few days to get used to the changes, life was looking good. The raven was incredibly pleased by the way he'd turned out, pleased by the liberation and freedom a few feet of height now gave him.

Lucien really couldn't control him anymore.

The poor runaway had given Xaxis attention when he'd needed it, fed him (though not usually the sorts of meals Xaxis preferred), and went through the motions of being a family. The raven had picked him out for reasons he couldn't remember, couldn't understand - but unlike some of his peers and their companions, Lucien and him hadn't really bonded.

Be that as it may, Xaxis was just glad that he could now go out and about and there was absolutely nothing Lucien could say.

"Free at last," he chirrped, stretching out his long, ebony feathers. He felt the familiar tickle and pull as the ever-molting wings dropped a few stray feathers. With all his growth, there still seemed to be no cure of the ever-present molting.

Oh well. Xaxis hadn't really thought that would have changed.

Walking through the park, the raven enjoyed the sunshine. It felt nice upon his skin and feathers. It wouldn't be long before fall fell upon them, and then the icey grip of winter. Blah. Snow. Xaxis really hadn't much use for the weather, but about all he could remember about it was it was cold and wet. . . and who wanted to be that!?

Walking through the park, his various bells and chimes jingling lightly with every step, the raven knew there was kin around.

Somewhere.

With growth also came a stronger sense of self. The feeling wasn't obvious, but it was there, a moments sweetness nesteled amongst the dull, afternoon life.

Drifting closer to the source, Xaxis spotted the girl on the bench, as well as the preening trogan. One look and ther ewas no doubt. "Well aren't you shinie," he admired, speaking to the trogan and hardly giving Freija a second look.

He'd get to her eventually - besides, it was probably good for him to greet his kin. It might come in handy. . . someday.

((Yey, Dis! biggrin ))

Off in her own thoughts, she hadn't even noticed the sudden appearence of the young man untill her trogan started to cry out beside her out of the blue.

"Should you be talking?" The trogan questioned the raven. Sure the youngman was as black as coal, but his attire certainly made up for the remainder of the spectrum.

"Oh, my appologies sir. I didn't even see you there." Freija started with a smile up at the man, untill her eyes caught the large black wings sprouting from the man's back. Thoughts of the young boy she met back on the beach, (Iamel was it?), she guessed that this man was another bird. Yet again, she refused to question the strange sight of a winged man. Had to be all of this fresh air. Making her dizzy.

"Erm-" She cleared her throat. "You wouldn't by chance be one of Shanuh's?"

The bird on her shoulder tilted it's head slightly to get a better look at the tall man. Large carrion birds such as this man made the tiny one slightly on edge. Not being one to accomodate for such a presence himself, what with his largest meal being that off small lizards, he puffed his chest out a bit in some kind of attempt at showing it wasn't going to be a pushover for the larger bird.

Xaxis regarded the woman cooly, inwardly rolling his eyes. Well wasn't she an intelligent one. Still, the raven wasn't a complete jerk. Maybe winged-people frequently came up and held conversations with her trogan. Who knew?

"Why yes, actually," he greeted, pleased that Freija had enough sense to notice. And . . . . now what?

Introductions, right? It had been such a long while since he'd actually met others, the raven felt a little awkward. Being social wasn't exactly his ways, but he wasn't ever going to get to know his Kin (or their companions) if he wasn't friendly.

He did have manners afterall.

"I'm Xaxis," he greeted, both to the trogan AND Freija. Turning his violet eyes more on the bird, his smile broadened.

"And, as a matter of fact, being shinie is a complement," Which was true, at least in his small circle of friends. The trogan had such colours - very pretty reds and greens - and the raven liked it. He wore his pretty sashes and ribbons to give himself colour. The fact that the trogan was naturally bright was a source of hidden jealousy - and if Xaxis couldn't have it, he at least could admire it.

"Hopefully your colour will stay with you when you grow." Xaxis' attitude was mild and fairly amicable, with Freija again pushed to the side. He wasn't going to judge the trogan quite yet. . . .

((Haha. Sorry, Xaxis is . . . isn't exactly the greatest when it comes to meeting new people . x3 ))
