So I apparently contracted Mono about a month ago, and I just got a blood test done, and came up possitive. I've been experiencng swollen glands for about two weeks so far, and mono has an incubation period that's not that short, so I think my girlfriend possibly contracted it from me, since it is called the 'Kissing disease'.

Dude that sucks.. I really dont know much about mono but isn't it supposed to go away? My friend's friend had mono once and I know she was out of school for a long time but I think it went away.

My sister got Mono the year before last year! At first the doctors thought it was leukemia but it turned out to be Mono! I read a book about Mono it said that it will go away in three weeks to three months! Some people retain the antibodies released vy the body to fight Mono through their lives so they will always be postive for it even if they don't have it. Also you should avoid rigerous(sp?) activities because Mono causes the inflamition of the spleen I think which might pop in activities like football.

Hope you get well!

I allready studied up on Mono and how it affects the body. I never heard of the symptoms affecting people for their entire lives afterwards, I only heard of the symptoms remaining for several years... though that can translate to 'the rest of their lives' for some people. xp

If I wind up having the symptoms indefinately, that means I'd have a medical reason to not get drafted ever. Even though there are low-physical activity jobs in the military, you still have to go through boot camp, and that'd be too strenuous for someone with mono. Woo!

Plus if you have continious mono your spleen can rupture if you get knocked around enough a difinite no-no for the draft.

I'll just say I'm gay (which won't be lieing) and hope that "the don't ask don't tell" works in drafts too! If not just ask to be assinged as a person that works with computers a long way from the battle field!
