Hey everyone... I need some help.. I wanna pick out a costume for Anime North... a cosplay, but I don't know what to do... I want something femine, but no overly slutty... like... no super short skirts or n e thing lol... anyone have n e suggestions? Also something not tooo hard to make, and I have a lil bit of chub so...

Hmm Then... err.. Well name characters you like lol, more or less, I mean theres not really a gender limit for cosplaying lol.

I suggest posting a reference pic of yourself in real life on here so I can give you suggestions.
And try to think of anime, manga, jpop/jrock, or video games you like because that will help a lot.

just who ever you choose make sure you match at least a little (same hair color height shape ect...so many cosplays ruined because they ignore those rules)

If you dont mind make up, saihi Fenril from Pretear is a great costume and not overly difficult, but before you do ANY costume, I beg of you, as a fellow cosplayer, please actually watch the show.read the manga/play the game ect... There are some people who cross body types and still make a good cosplay, sorry to disagree, but thats how I feelm but its the ones who dont know who they are that bother me the most. Last Otakon I got a great shot of MArio and luigi... I thanked them and told them they were the worlds coolest plummers. One of them turned to the other and said "They're plumbers?" I dont think she could have gotten any redder... Their costumes were great though....
Best Urd I EVER saw.... I found out after snapping the picture...the cosplayer was male. So gender dosnt matter, and so long as your not leaking out of the costume every which way or hanging out, or unshaven in odd places, body type dosnt matter as much as a love of the charictor. I mean...if body type were the be all end all, we'd have no utena cosplayers, I dont think anime charictors get thinner or have longer legs, except maybe in sailor moon...
any how, easy cosplay for a beginner. Fenril is a good one. Almost anyone from Air, who isnt in a school uniform, Lena or Sarah from Shamaric princess, or even Leon from the same if your feeling adventurous. He's fun. You might want to try to find a group whos cosplaying and see if you can join them. If your willing to be part of their group and help with their costumes, they'll surely help you with yours. Working woth people who have done it before is a great way to learn, and being ith a group always makes it easier for people torecognize your costume. Also... look into props that are on hand. If you have a lot of remote controlled toy cars or ind up robots...maybe Skuld from aa my goddess. If you have a lot of plushies, maybe be some one who always has an animal with them that matches one of your plushies.
Namine from Kingdom hearts two is pretty easy. Blond wig, white sleevless sundress, white shoes, sketchpad. Likewise a generic member of orgnization 13, so long as you keep the hood up. then its just a hooded cloak with a zipper that opens on top and bottom, black gloves, black pants black boots...ah...not a good costume for a summer con... heh.... Fruitsbasket is fairly easy also, since alot of the times charictors wear fairly normal clothing. Tohru at her job for isntance. Kisa cisiting, Kagura---ever. Uo or Hana-chan in the graveyard eppisode. Shigure - ever. Hatori isnt bad either, or if you can find a hatori, go as Kana. Theres a lot of good easy costumes out there for a first timer. My first costume that WORKED (not counign Queen serinty because thats a loooooong story) for anime.videogame cosplay... Was shory from bust a groove. I thought it as too simple, too basic, nd my outfit wasnt a perfect matcy. (The shirt had the right kinds of sleeves butwrng colors) so I as only going to wear it sunday... but staurday I got tired of all my amke up and the heavy costme of being invader Tak (2 people recognized me...one called me zim...) So I changed into my shorty costume and went to the game room to DDR...and everyone recognized me...not just in that room either. Sometimes...simple is best. For the shorty costume, he only pice I didnt already own was the small stuffed mouse. I even got recognized at burger king on sunday going home, without my hat in, and my haor loose! That was one of the greatest cosplay experiances ever for me. Play some one you cna have fun with, and when in doubt, do less, not more.
