concentrate on your center, ur belt knot or ur belly button, breathe from ur diaphram, and practice. U'll get it if you work hard for it. biggrin biggrin

I fanally got my kick fixed up and perfect! yay!

Also, try kicking practices and immediately after try kicking at a target. Feel how different the kicks are, and how they are delivered, and the intent you have behind them. Your center of balance might be different, which could end up being misleading.

wellllll, run alot more get more stamina and make your legs more powerful, if you also want to be able to have maybe speed as in dodging attacks or moving around objects better umm I dunno

heres a tip for balance and getting better strength in kicking, when u practice ur kick don't just do a kick as fast as u can then bring it down. if u do that ur not developing ur leg mucsles and ur kick wont get any stronger. ur other leg will also lose stamina and wont get a 'feel' for the kick. instead, break ur kick down into steps and do each one slowly. For ex. in a side kick start with ur legs spread to shoulder length, ur knee into ur chest with ur foot pointed out, then kick to the side. dont just drop ur leg!!! instead, bring ur knee back slowly into ur chest then let it back down do that a few times with each leg and u'll feel it lol

I cannot empahsize enough on running. running builds up ur body better than any other exercise. i can only think of 2 sports that can literally rob u of breath faster than any other and those r martial arts and soccer (basketball comes close). how does this help u ask. well u mite b able to throw a mean punch or swift kick but if u aint got the energy to do em they aint much use r they. anyone can easily outlast there opponent with enough running.

i forgot to add something lol. when u first start doing this, u may wanna brace urself against something like a counter top or hand rail until u get a feel for it

oh, yeah we do somthing like that in our dojo, but we hold it in the air and do 100 side kicks at a time. im not sure what the benifit is to doing it slow or fast.
but it probably works the same.
the problem for me is im knock kneed so my legs hurt like hell after running, maybe ill try bycicling instead. thanks for the tip.

For the balancing thingy, just stand in one foot or (works for me) do lots of front kicks. After a while, side kicks are good then try roundhouse kicks.
For more strength in kicks, running? kicking punching bags? constant kicks of the same thing that you understand more on how to get more power on it? those all work.

lol u dont have to get a machine....its just a waste of money

simply practice stretching frequently during the week....this will make you more limber and flexible. It takes time and practice in order to do the splits. Since i do Wushu, the split and being overall flexible is very important in order to move your body and kick correctly. It took me about a year or two to split ......so keep practicing, thats the only way you will be able to get it biggrin

I agree, because I do a style with no machines to improve flexability. We have to work on it, just like working to become a black belt.

When you do this do you put power behind the steps or just do the motion?
