The lioness with the blue tattoos was napping, nestled comfortably under a shady little tree for her rest. Although flashes of a desert landscape wove their way through her dreams, she was far indeed from her old home, and when she woke it was oftenf ar from her thoughts. In the months she'd spent in these lands, she'd grown accustomed to them, perhaps even grown to love them.
So Adhidevata stayed, in this place with its scattered clans, the only member of which she'd yet met was a dark male. Still, maybe that would change, in time.

U'yosi loped along the plain, the feather at his ear bouncing lightly against his dark mane. He felt well fed, and strangely cheered by his meeting with some other lions. The stolid lion was not a lonely soul by choice, and when another, more familiar scent caught on the breeze he smiled gently, dropping down to a trot and then a gentle pad across the grasses, towards a small tree.
Was he correct? Muscles shifted under tattooed fur as he lifted his head to peer a little way away. Most possibly... he came a bit closer, round into full view, ever respectful in not wanting to surprise the lioness he had met before.

The sound of another lion's approach pushed her a little into wakefulness, until finally she cracked open one yellow eye to peer upside-down at her unexpected company.
...unexpected, but not unwelcome, as it turned out. Seeing who it was, Adhi smiled broadly up at him before rolling to her feet for a more proper greeting. "Hello again, U'yosi."

"I didn't mean to wake you," he said apologetically. "But I hope the season finds you well, Adhidevata. I am glad to see you still frequent these lands," and the large lion smiled warmly.
He padded a bit closer to seat himself just under the shade, curling his tail around his forepaws idly.

"There are worse ways to awaken," she shrugged his apology gracefully off with the veiled compliment, and as he sat, so did she.
"Well indeed, as I hope it also finds you." Adhi dipped her head. "They are very different from where I was raised, but different is not so bad. It is very good, I think."

He looked around, at the redhued savannah around them, and smile a little. "These lands we have travelled to are very beautiful.... I thought they blessed us once. Perhaps they will bless us again." He looks distant for a moment, before turning his face back towards her again.
"But they are quite similar to those we fled... was where you were birthed really so different?" His tone was mildly curious.

"Perhaps they will. Or perhaps they already do." Adhi looked out across the landscape with a soft smile, while her tail swayed behind her in the grass.
"Very different," she answered. "I was born in scrubland at the fringes of the vast desert the tribes have wandered beyond memory."
"The desert was beautiful, and it was home, but it was also harsh."

"The desert... not much grows, nor lives there, does it? It must have been fight to grow up." U'yosi looked at his own paws, shifting them slightly in the red dust between the grasses. "I admit I am lucky to have grown up in such abundant lands, where the spirits blessed us... so different from some others, or even that which I brought my own children up in." He snorted slightly. "But I understand that home is a home..."

"It is not so hard, not when one knows no simpler way. Where there is only one way, things seem very much clearer. Very much easier, perhaps. No choices, only a path laid out to follow."
"Home can change, though." The lioness stiffened her forelegs, stretching them without changing position. "There are other paths to other places, as I've found myself."

"..... are you making your home here now, then?" U'yosi asked, almost hesitantly, an odd tone in the deep rumble that he normally produced. He tilted his head to look over at her curiously.

"If...I am welcome here." Adhidevata lifted her head, question in her yellow eyes. "If not, there are always other paths," she murmurred.

"Oh, I am not denying you the right to stay, not at all," said U'yosi hastily, backtracking several steps. "I am sure, if you ask the nvwati just to make sure... but I will vouch for you," he said firmly. "These lands are plenty rich enough for all.... considering our numbers," and he looked sideways. "And there is a difference between another pride taking their place on this land, and a lone wanderer..."
"But still, if you have seen any of the others, I think it would always be polite to ask," and he looked thoughtful, as if not being polite would be totally out of the question. "After all, I have no say in anything, really...."
