Akilah was bored. When we say 'bored', we don't mean the finger-drumming-sighing-doing-nothing type of bored. The type of boredom that consumed the meerkat was the type that almost left him comatose.
For the first time in prehaps his whole life, he had been lying on the houses armchair, doing nothing, eyes half closed when his father had walked up and shoved a box into his hands.
"Eat and walk. DO something." His dawdie had informed him. The darker parent was in the process of...packing everything. They were getting a bigger house. Again.
Ah well. At least it kept him out of the house.
So there he was, walking down downtown with just his backpack, dressed in his jeans and a regular shirt - maybe a haircut? Ooooh... he could get a haircut today. The meerkats eyes lit up, grabbing a scorpion from the box by the tail and biting down on it's head happily. Chomp chomp chew swallow. The rest of its body wriggled in protest but Akilah didn't ntice - he was on the look out for a hair cutting place!

There was a little 'bap' noise, the noise immediately followed by the very displeased cry of a baby. Silence. BAP! Another cry. Then Silence. Then a thin giggle, then--
"Prince, Stop that!" Neveah commanded, swatting lightly at the spotted fawn's muzzle when he looked up to see what the shiny thing wanted. Normally she wouldn't hit his muzzle, but it was just about the only thing she could reach without walking around the stroller.
Whining, The little deer known as Prince slumped back down and started pawing at his nose, whining. This time, it was the other's turn to giggle. The albino deer poked his bright white head over the stroller seat's edge, his ears perked as if worried...but really, he was thinking "Hah! You got in troooouuuble!".
Of course, Prince raised his hand, the motion must have scared the albino for he disappeared back behind the first seat. Prince looked thoroughly confused. What? All he wanted to do was scratch his own ear.
"Oi, I swear you two..." Neveah sighed, shaking her head. "Oh? Akilah?" She called out, having lifted her head to actually see where she was going...and subsequently spotted the meerkat she'd seen when he was smaller.

The meerkat spun around at the sound of his voice, sandles making squishy noises on the ground and his mouth full of half-dead scoprion. In fact, Neveah was privy to see the tail and the last set of legs, still wriggling, tossed into his mouth as nonchalantly as one would do a piece of candy.
"Neveah?" He mumbled through a full mouth, chewing and swallowing roughly at the scorpion before speaking again. "You're.. I've met you before. Drow kid. Yours. Yashis friend, right? Dawdie likes you." The brown and gray meerkat nodded a little at that, lips peeling back into a grin. "The wings."
But he had no intent on eating her today. Instead, he bounced over to the kids, cruching down to peer at them. "Twins?" Eyebrows arched, fingers moving to poke at the deer. Well. The albino got a pat. The regular deer got a poke in the nose. "Gotta be careful! It's huntin' season. And the law states no doe or child but some hunters aren't very careful about who they shoot."
"Are they?" He grinned at the little deer, teeth shining in the sun. He ate only bugs, mainly, but his teeth were still sharp.

Ew. Neveah though as he finished off the scorpion. Perhaps the fact it was still wiggling made Neveah sick to her stomach.
"Yeah, You have." Neveah blinked at him once she got over it. He sure didn't seem like the energetic kid she remembered. "Yeah, Drow Kid...He's at my friend's house, So its just the tweebs today. Yeah...wings..." When she mentioned the wings in response, she clasped the black-and-blue appendages behind her back. She couldn't be too careful!
"Twins that look nothing alike." Neveah both agreed and shrugged, not really caring if they were really twins or not. The fact of the matter is that they were hers. "The spotted brat is Prince, and the ghostling is Duke." She introduced them, then settled to watch them: obviously Akilah was more interested in them.
Prince tried to gum on the finger that poked his nose, but it had already disappeared to go pat his brother. Not fair! Ever the attention whore, Prince's hard black hands pressed against Akilah's furr, and he started to nuzzle the other boy's arm. That'd get his attention for sure!
Duke was staring straight at Akilah, though his ears rotated around and ducked his head...but when he realized he was only being petted, his ears didn't move, but he did nuzzle the hand a little shyly.

"I won't eat your wings," He said off handedly, grinning up at her with a little laugh. "I eat scorpions. And beetles. We don't much each...butterflies. Promise!" The meerkat giggled a little at that.
"We have two puppies at home. The girl is okay. Boy is too quiet." Akilah nodded distractedly, still scritching at the little albino, other hand moving up to tickle at the underside of his jaw. He knew how to handle babies!
Iamel made SURE he didn't kill little things.
"Hi Prince. Duke." He greeted, still grinning with his wide lips. "Is it weird? Having a white baby and a black baby and a baby inbetween? We have Yashi and Kian - it's weird."

Neveah smiled, trying to hide the relief over the fact he won't eat her wings. She knew he wouldn't anyway! Well, thats what she told herself. "I'm...more afraid of them getting ripped. That'll hurt, I'm thinking." Of course, she'd never had her wings ripped, but she knew how painful it was to crumple one accidentally.
"It is weird...but at least I can consider myself racially diverse, if you think about it that way." Neveah looked like she was musing...the way he said it, it certainly did sound that way!
Prince was downright appalled. Duke was getting all the attention? This was by no means fair! With a grump, he slumped down into his seat, and instead found entertainment in the spinning stars along the stroller's board. Of course, his playing with the stars was half-hearted; he was more than grumbly over not getting the attention he knew he deserved. Duke, pah! Duke was uninteresting...at least he had spots and colours! Hmph.
Duke's ears rotated up, then back down again as he was scritched. Hey, this was nice! The little white fawn leaned his head into Akilah's, finding the older boy to be really, really nice! When the hand went to tickle the underside of his jaw, the poor albino started...which only proved to get him a noseful of the meerkat's fur.
With a huff, he sneezed all over Akilah. But hey, the underjaw thing still felt neat, too! Grinning in apology, Duke licked the meerkat's fingers, then nuzzled his hand. Yay, babykisses!

"No one can call you raciest," Akilah agreed, laughing a little at the babykisses, fingers wriggling all the more. He leaned over, arms wrapping around Duke and pulling the albino up without bothering to ask Neveah first.
"Babies are so weird... Most of um like people without caring. Dawdie said I was like that too. Just latching on and loving with abandon, because someone was loving them first."
Another grin from the meerkat, lips flashing, fingers scritching up his spine.
"I like your babies though. They aren't like some babies are. Kian hates everyone. He BIT me."
Akilah used to bite people too, but that was conveniantly forgotten in that moment. He was him. The others were not.

Neveah went quiet for a moment, meerly watching them. She was especially interested in how Duke would take to Akilah holding him.
Duke, of course, was terrified when the meerkat went to pick him up. His pinkish red eyes were as wide as dinnerplates in fear, and his poor ears were practically a part of his neck now. His entire body had stiffened and he just....stared at Akilah, not wanting to move in fear of being dropped, but not knowing what to do otherwise.
Prince just grumped, looking occassionally up from those stars to eye Akilah and his undeserving twin. This wasn't fair it wasn't fair it just wasn't fair! Though he didn't know what it was, he got some vague satisfation over understanding how absolutely terrified Duke was of being held by someone other than Neveah. In a way, it made him feel better!
Of course, Duke was beginning to relax. Those spine scritches were putting him at ease, though painfully slowly.
"Interesting..." Neveah breathed out, still staring at Duke. "I suppose siblings bite, though...Prince bites Duke all the time, sort of. I'm glad you like them though! I'm sure it'll help them out greatly in some way." Yeah, like Duke actually lightening up.
