Camulos was finally old enough to leave his mother's side. At first, he had been apprehensive about going off on his own - he was used to his mother's almost obsessive doting. As his siblings began to tease him, though, he got up the courage to go exploring. Maybe he could catch some prey, he thought, knowing that his mother would be ecstatic over him catching something. Cam knew that she savoured the pain of anyone except herself and her cubs, and so his first kill would be a big deal for her. The naive little cub didn't realize the sadism in his mother's pleasure - he only knew that he wanted to please her.
The scruffy black cub stalked through the grass, hunting down a particularily large grasshopper that seemed just out of his reach. With a growl, he pounced, but it hopped away before he landed. Frowning, he shook the dust out of his fur and watched it hop away.

 Fighting back a yawn, the hyena had decided to amuse herself by taking a walk. She really had no destination in mind, and at the moment she was just allowing her paws to take her where they would. Her ears were perked, as per usual, in anticipation of any interesting sounds. Likewise, her nose was going crazy with all the unfamiliar scents around.
She hadn't been walking long when she spotted a black lion cub. Black..? Well, that certainly was an interesting color, for a lion, she thought, and nodded her head in agreement. Tilting her head, she stopped walking and just sort of stood where she was, and it became apparent that he was stalking something. A moment later, that something hopped away, and she stifled a giggle at the cub's antics. He was certainly an adorable little thing!

Cam picked up an unfamiliar scent in the air and squinted his red eyes. What was that? It didn't smell like a lion! He swiveled around and noticed the hyena watching him. His first instinct was to run over and introduce himself, but he quickly nixed that idea. After all, he had to make his mother proud, didn't he? And he knew what she'd do. So, smiling inwardly at his cleverness, he leapt over to the hyena, growling 'ferociously'.
"Who're you?" He demanded, baring his baby teeth. It was all he could do not to giggle. Oh, how proud Mama would be if she could see him? "This is my mama's territory!" He scowled at her and whipped his tail from side to side. "Do you know her? Are you supposed to be here? What's your name?" The questions came pouring out and slowly his hardened expression faded, leaving the small smile of an inquisitive cub.

It was no surprise when the cub seemed to notice her, and she had to fight back soft laughter at his immediate reaction. Tilting her head slightly to the left, she watched as he flung himself at her, his little growl was so cute! It didn't take her long to figure out that he was trying to be intimidating. And that meant she had two choices: she could either go along with his little game, or she could disregard it altogether. Well, at the moment, the first sounded more appealing. Afterall, she didn't really want to upset the little guy, now did she?
Blinking, she straightened her head out and perked her ears, "I'm Sauda, and I didn't know this was your mama's territory," she replied softly, her voice rising at the end of her statement, almost in question.
"No, little one, I don't know your mama. As I've said before, my name is Sauda. And I'm probably not supposed to be here, afterall. But then, I didn't know this place was taken by another living soul, so I really don't know," she added afterwards, her full attention resting on the little black cub in front of her. She did however notice how his scowl faded to make room for that small smile, a smile she was more than familiar with, herself!
