So the big homecoming dance is coming up at my school and there's this girl that I've been talking to. Problem is she had a girlfriend a couple years back and her parents found out so she hasen't dabbled with girls since and she is presumed straight by everybody she knows. And her friends are total uptight bitches. But she and I have been talking a lot lately, and I'm really starting to like her, and she says she likes me too. (She sent me the sweetest email involving the song "Good Morning Beautiful", lol) I want to ask her to Homecoming, and I don't want her friends to abandon her if she says yes, but I don't want to make things awkward between us if she says no. What should I do?

You may want it to take it slower with her to avoid problems with her friends. You could go to another place that's not the home coming dance until you feel conftrable and she does too. You don't want to make her loose her friendship with her firends because that might affect your relationship, just ask her what she think about it and if there is a way you can go to the home coming dance with her or not go at all!

Personally? I never worried about dates to my high school dances. I just went and had a good time with friends. Now, prom on the other hand was a different story. I found a date for that one.
Just go and dance with her, I'd say. I recall girls dancing with each other all of the time around here, even if they were straight! It's all in the spirit of fun. If someone questions it and she doesn't really want to worry about people knowing what's going on, you can tell them you're just having some fun!
