The Army, National Guard, Air Force, Navy, and the Coast Guard all sponsorship Nextel or Busch drivers. I'm just wondering how they get the money to sponsor Nascar, and if people actually join the army because they sponsor a driver?

The government I guess gives them the money. Not all that sure
They talked about this the other day on XM. The sponsorship money comes out the the military's advertising budget. And just like any other sponsor, they have a courtesy tent set up at the track, staffed with recruiters. They hand out brochures, hats, grenades, or whatever free swag is on tap for that event. It must be fairly successful, as every branch of the armed forces is on a car, and they have been in the sport for a few years now.
