Tell me why you guys like SetsunaXKonoka? Cuz' I don't really like it, because to me it's disturbing (pulls out shield in case of attacks) and when I search for fanfics I get bombarded with SXN fics, so I'm assuming A LOT of people like this pairing. So I'm just curious why you guys like that couple! (Please don't say they are meant for each other stuff like that.) I want to know so that I won't offend anyone. 3nodding

I agree, that pairing is just horrible xp
But honestly I think Setsuna is bisexual...which is hott, don't get me wrong!!
lol, I think it best if they weren't a couple and Setsuna just secretly wants to
be with Konoka >for life<. That would probably make the manga much better
...in the love life aspects of the Negima manga of course... sweatdrop

I believe that it's because that the spark that they share is so strong. The "relationship" that they share has so many obstacles in the way, and yet they're destined to be together. They're both women, one's a demon, after a long period of distance, and they still can interact with eachother. They're both willing to fight/die for eachother.
It's hardly the kind of relationships we see today in the real world, whose relationships begin mostly based on physical appearance. They were born and guided not to care about each other in such a way, yet they do. I think that an ideal love like theirs is beautiful.

I only like Sakurazaki. Konoka is cute in some ways but Sakurazaki comes first. Plus she has a sword!

Azn_Rice_Master That's really helpful.... stare You're probably gonna get a good answer from the ladies. They have better reasons for the liking of the Kono-Setsu couple. In fact where is Konosetsu? She would probably give you a straight forward answer.

Mainly, it's because they're so cute together. Also, after Negi and Nodoka, it's the most clearly defined romantic relationship in the series.
Then there's also the typical knight-in-shining-armor protecting the princess facet that provides such a romanticized view of love, devotion, and sacrifice. This is a significant part of why I'm so dissapointed with the anime, since Setsuna was weakened to the point where she wasn't actually able to protect Konoka, and the anime chose to simply sum the relationship up with a kiss. It is a shame, since the Cinema Town events include some of the most touching moments of the relationship: Setsuna finally acting like a friend to Konoka instead of just a bodyguard, Setsuna steadfast determination to protect Konoka, and both of the girls nearly givign their lives for each other.
There are also lighter moments as to why Konoka and Setsuna make an attractive pair: Konoka glomping Setsna after snacking on Chamo's love chocolates and Setsuna's awkward, embarrassed confrontation of her feelings towards Setsuna.
The relationship provides aspects of romance, comedy, and action; and these three elements are what people read Negima for, right? So a relationship that encompasses them all would make sense to be popular, especially as a female/female pairing in a series that obviously caters to a male audience.

i guess it's because they already have a strong relationship to build on romantically. if they had just been two random class-mates who people had paired together, then it wouldn't be popular because the original relationship wouldn't be there to support any feats of imagination on the parts of the fans. there has actually been an entire article as to why slash pairings are so popular, where this is one of the conclusions that the authors come to.

Mmm... Yeah, their history definitely adds to the novelty of them being together! Good insight.
