I made a thread about it. It says YAKUZA in big bold letters. smile

...btw, they usually talk as if they own the place they're walking on if chinpira, and if they're talking to a superior yakuza, they're all nice and lovey dovey polite.

I wouldn't want to live with them sweatdrop I quite enjoy a quiet home life. xP

I know one thing about how they talk-a lot of words they want to be kept "secret" they say backwards...some re-aranging done to allow for proper pernounciation, of course. One of my Japanese slang books has quite a bit of terms that originated in the Yakuza, but leaked out into the public within the last couple of years...

Actually half of those "yakuza related" words aren't even that. It's actually verbal warfare with various cities in Japan.

For example, saying "I don't quite understand [that subject]" in "proper" japanese would sound like "Sorewa yoku wakarimasen". However, in say, kansai dialect, it would be "Sore wakan ya de!" or a proper japanese "that's incorrect" being "sore wa machigae de gozaimasu" becomes "sore chau ya de!" in kansai. Also, some parts of japanese dialect that seem like normal talk may seem like insulting or pure bred fighting words to another dialect.

3nodding I knew about that. Another reason why Japanese is considered so hard to learn-the different dialects are like different languages.

But I was talking more about specific words, as opposed to actual sentences or terms...I'll have to re-read that book again. xp

compare it to other texts as well. one author may think a term is yakuza-oriented, while it may be just a term derived from bosozoku or low-level chinpira for the fun of mashing words to inadvertently extort money from bystanders.
