After an extended Round 3, the Grand Tournament moves on to Round 4 - "Ascension".

While there are still two running matches from Round 3, both in the "Honor" Seed, we have a fairly complete bracket set up for the Seed Championships. Two seeds, "Glory" and "Destiny", are having a "Minitour" - a round-robin style arrangement - to determine the Seed Champions and consequently, the semifinalists.

In Seed One - "Glory", we have:
Rock Lee versus Glacieric Setsua
Glacieric Setsua versus Dearth
Dearth versus Rock Lee

In Seed Two - "Destruction" - there has already been an upset, with Deicide withdrawing from the tournament after a battle with competitor Circ, placing Circ as the Destruction Champion, and making him the first fighter to reach the semifinals.

Seed Three - "Honor" is completely indeterminate, with Kouketsu and Iron Maiden fighting one another, vying for the chance to move to the Seed Championships. Pidge and SSJ3Mewtwo continue to engage in an epic battle that just might make the history books.

Seed Four - "Destiny" gives us a slew of fighters, perhaps one of the most diverse.
Annihilation Husky versus Vagrant
Vagrant versus The Meandering Fool
The Meandering Fool versus Annihilation Husky

We're nearing the end of the Tournament after a long and hard road for the competitors. It seems a shame that only one will be able to claim the title, as the fighters in this tournament have displayed some amazing qualities, all worthy of the title.

Speaking of the title, there was some conversation about how the GT Title works, and how it applies to fighters who were not in the tournament. Any title obtained through the Grand Tournament is a no-contest title, and can not be transferred to another fighter without a sanctioned match. The title is a statement of the titleholder's ability and historical significance of defeating a slew of other competitors from the tournament. Since the tournament is a join effort from multiple sites, the Grand Tournament can be considered a multi-site cross-section of the highest caliber of fighter from the participating sites, but may or may not accurately represent the best. A more accurate representation can be found in the GT League, where fighters from all corners of the world may come to be ranked by the automated system as they add their fights and spars to the league.

On a last note, major congratulations to Miyamoto Musashi, whom upon the lack of presence of Relentless, has been declared the GT Speed Fighting Champion.

Two important changes were made to the league software today; I think it is important to give more information about the implications of these changes.

Number one, on the Challenge User page, the list of opponents available for challenge now shows the score of the opponent, and sorts them from least to greatest, using the same algorithm as in the rankings to determine the greater in the case of a tie.

Change number two is the most important, and applies to how scores are determined. The percentage rule is now fully enforced, and the defeated fighter now loses the exact percentage of their own points, rather than the percentage of the winner's points. This allows for a higher potential point gain, and a lower potential point loss, for an overall more accurate interpretation of the match results.

These changes are not retrospective, and only apply to matches currently in progress and matches created in the future.

Good luck to everyone!

P.S.: Gaia's a pretty big place, and this is the only active chapter here on Gaia. As per every other site that is participating, you guys are welcome to create new chapters to get more people involved. There's just no possible way we can open up a chapter in all the big guilds.
