Surprisingly soon after her first trip into that dark hole in the back of the hall closet, Kiki was down there once again. Shortly, she discovered tattered remains of a styrophome figure.
How strange.
Nothing, the blue doll that lay squished between her arm and her body seemed to say, "Too bad." Kilayla knew it was just her imagination. Continuing her search with Nothing as her source of courage, Kiki found many strange and awe-inspiring things, amongst them, a jar with a vein-y looking little blue fish-like thing in it. She had the sneaking suspision that there was something very wrong with that thing being in a jar. >>"
Eventually, Kilayla came back through the hole in the floor to what felt like a completely different world. The air wasn't as full of dread and anger, but Kiki still carried a bit of it with her.
Theif looked up at her from the kitchen when she came into the living room.
"Did you go for a nap or something? You were awfully quiet," he mumbled. Kiki gave him a look. He hadn't changed clothes for three days. She didn't answer him.
Namid was sitting on the couch watching television. Kiki came to sit with him. "What were you doing inside the closet?" he asked quietly, crossing one leg over the other.
"I wasn't doing anything," she replied.

Over the next few days, Kiki went in and out of the lower floors, with Nothing at her side. She discovered whoever'd had the place before had put up lots of these really disturbing-but-cool paintings that consisted of lots of dark colors, and obscure images.
Mostly, it creeped her out, but there was just something that seemed to keep calling her back down.
After a while, Kilayla all but stopped eating. Her sleeping habits went from erratic to almost unnoticeable. On more than one occasion, Theif awoke to Kilayla laying silently beside him, watching his face. He was beginning to worry.
One evening, before he was to leave to work, Theif looked over to Kilayla, who was sitting beneath the mosquito netting in the bedroom, staring out the window. "What ever happened to your little friend, Sauda? You know, I happen to have her phone number right here. Call her, so you have somebody to talk with while you're waiting for Namid to get back home, okay?"
Kiki only looked at him with dark circles under her eyes, and droopy looking pigtails on either side of her head. She smiled a breif smile, that felt vaguely false. "Okay," she said.
Theif came to her and kissed her forehead. He handed her the small slip of paper with the phone number on it, and headed for the door. He was definantly worried...
As soon as Theif left, Kiki flopped onto her back and turned on the television. Realizing that there was nothing on, she reached for the phone, which lay half-hidden underneath her doll, Nothing. He seemed to be looking at her. She frowned at him, and layed him face down in her blankets. Then she called Sauda's house.
She stared blankly at the wall as she listened to the phone ring.
