Another long, dreary day at school. What else was new? Stretching, Nessy sighed and looked longingly at her bed, smiling just for a second when she saw the ice-pack quilt, and the bright pink egg that was shaking inside of it. Pressing a soft, and very quick, kiss to the freezing-cold egg, she stood up and went back to her desk, opening up her books to continue the oh-so-fascinating study of economics.
An hour later, pushing her heavy brown hair out of her eyes, she sighed and looked back at Aurenieve in her egg...and squeaked.
The egg was glowing, bright as day, a small star in the center of her neon-green bedspread. A bit unsteady, and unsure what to do, she stayed in her seat, the light reflected off of her glasses.
After a few moments, a great sound of "CRACK....COOOO!" was heard, and in a burst of fluffy snow came a small, polar-bear like face...and body?!
"A-Aure?!" Nessy's voice was a tone higher than usual, shock apparent in her big orange eyes. With a sprightly coo, the pink little Flurry zoomed around her caretaker's head, before pushing into her arms for a Wethkin hug.
"AURE!" Giggling, and now at ease, Nessy scooped up her little friend and hugged her tight, dancing around the room, snow trailing on the floor behind them as they made little sounds together...their form of communication, it would seem.
Hearing a yell from outside of her room, that she should get out for dinner, she had to set Aurenieve down. "Now be a good girl, and I'll bring you back some ice cream from the freezer!" Being a true child, Aurenieve agreed immediately, and settled into her little blanket to wait.
But with being out of her egg came curiosity of the things around her...especially the calico kitten across the room. Cooing, she burrowed into her blanket to watch from across the room, and right when the kitten came up to sniff at her..."CYOOOOO!". She launched out, and pounced the kitten, who did not like this one bit. In a confused tangle of claws and ice crystals, the bed became soaking wet and and covered in snow.
Running in, and hearing the commotion, Nessy groaned and sank to the floor. "What am I going to do with you?!"

It had been a few weeks now since Aurenieve had hatched, and they had been hectically fun. It seemed every day Nessy learned something new about her beloved little Flurry, the best of all being Aurenieve's affinity for Icebreaker mints. Looking around her room, she spotted Aure getting ready to pounce the cat. Ever since the day she hatched, Pumpkin and Aurenieve had been the best of friends, even though most of their interaction was pouncing and wrestling.
But then, if that wasn't what kids did as friends, what was?
Something else Aure always liked, was hanging around with the Nymphchild Wethkin at the hangout. Of course, when Calli was around, they were inseperable, as if Aure had permanently frozen herself to the Wind Wethkin, while they whirled and swirled around the pretty Nymphs.
It was no secret that Aure dreamed of it...even if she was far away from that part of her life.
Whistling and rattling the mint tin, Nessy called her little sweetheart over to her, and she zoomed closer, her halo glowing as she spots the mints. "Cyooo! Cyo cyo!" She bounced up and down, nearly a gold and pink blur, until Nessy tossed a mint in her direction. Sounds of delighted chewing were heard, and it kept her busy long enough for Nessy to bundle her in her cooling jacket to head for headquarters. It was too warm outside for the little Flurry, and Nessy didn't want her to start melting!
"C'mon Aure, leave the poor kitty alone, and let's go see Aven and Calli!"

After so long, it was so good to be back! Stretching her longer, tanner legs, Nessy strode around her old room, adding touches to a room that her grandmother had redecorated. Somehow, her neon froggy pillow just didn't seem appropriate without the lurid green blanket it normally matched.
Stepping back, she tucked a small runaway hair back into her bun and surveyed the space. Only one thing was missing...and the brunette was anxious for her to arrive. I just hope she doesn't mind that I won't be back for long... she thought to herself. Suddenly, she felt a very small, icy lump hit her in the back and send her flying with a squeal.
"AURENIEVE!" Not so upset so much as happy to be reuinted with her sprite, she turned and cuddled the icy ball of snow to her chest, nuzzling her cheek against the small pink puff. She felt bigger, more solid. With a start, Nessy realized that she'd been away from her little flurry for over two months now!
"I'm sorry I've been gone for so long Aure..but I know you'd absolutely hate Florida right now! Hee, but you should come back with me soon...that cat is getting a bit cocky now that you're not there to whip her into shape!" Winking, she felt and heard the shivery coo that served as Aure's laugh.
"But you've gotten so big! It's great to see that Avenorell's taken good care of you! Hm...maybe I can do something special to say thanks? But what?" Shaking her head, she had to get back to visiting with her Aure. After all, she'd only be around for another few days.
"So, what do you want to do, my little pinky puffy dear?" Grinning at the indignant look at the much-hated nickname, Aurenieve swirled around her head, giving the warm teenager a refreshing gust of winter air.
"Oh, so that's how it's going to be?" Laughing, she grabbed Aure and rushed downstairs, and towards the back yard, wondering how well Aure could swim....it would be an interesting day!

NessyBaby Tenderly, Nessy tucked Aurenieve into her cooling bed. "Goodnight, my precious...". It had been a hard few months. Ever since the move, Aure had been pining away for her other Wethkin friends. Especially since the tropical spot they now lived in wasn't very ideal for a little flurry such as the pink puff.
Thank goodness for air conditioning! the brunette thought as she pulled off the sweater she wore in her bedroom. The temperature in there had been turned down to one in the mid-40s so that Aure could comfortably live in the bedroom while Nessy was at school all day.
It also discouraged the cat from going in the bedroom, as she and Aure had never quite...reconciled their differences. Shaking her head, she remembered to set a tin of Sour Apple Altoids next to Aure for when she woke up in the middle of the night. The flurry had never lost her love for the things...in fact, she was much the same as she was before they moved, with one key difference.
Nessy didn't know if it was simply because they'd been together for a year now, or if it was just because Aure was growing up, but it was almost as if Aure could speak to Nessy. Her little coos and expressions were always a gauge, but now it was like they had whole conversations. Which was especially good since Aurenieve was one of Nessy's only real friends anymore.
"Well, my darling flurry, I hope you dream well..."
