well, the same thing happened in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. All you have to do is clear a level and they come back.

Actualy, if you can beat the dark gatekeeper (Fiday MKII) before you beat the game, it's a very good place to train. The starting level has three lvl 80 mothmen type creatues called "Observers". They don't have to much health (about 1.4k each) and their attack isn't that impressive. Using that, I was able to take my main team (being Adell, Etna, Yukimaru, Rozalin, my healer, and my druid) to their late 70s (I think my Adell's currently lvl 80). Now, I'm on the final chapter, but it's still my first run through the game! XD It should be a cakewalk. I can have Adell go through most of an entire map alone. The only one he couldn't beat was the masked man (*SPOILER* Whom as we all kno is his father, along with his mother being the masked woman. I forget their names ^^ wink Anyway, beating the gatekeeper isn't that hard, just make sure no townsfolk die. It's rumored they stay gone if they die during that fight. ....That could cause problems.

Yea, its loosely called a "perma game over", because, if you can't access a gate keeper, well... there is nothing else except the item world. I did that in D:HOD and well...good thing I saved before killing the gate keeper Alice><

In D2: CM you have to end the cycle.

Yea, I found that out after killing the shop keeps. I dislike how, in the beginning, HL is everything! And then past a certain point, its just sitting there...compounding for nothing.
