Peter died after losing control of his 2001 Daytona Coupe in the 2006 Targa West Rally, in Australia. Police are reviewing the in-car tapes and a fan amateur video to determine accident reconstruction. Eye witness accounts of the crash scene described the car vividly, as tarpoline covered the windshield to hide in the interior and the glass. Co-driver Mick Hone was taken to hospital in stable condition. This accident comes at a major shock to the Targa Rally community and fans. Targa Newfoundland, in their 5th year as a Targa Rally event, will likely hold a moment of silence for Peter before the commencement of Stage 1 on September 9th.
