She was beside herself with worry. Kiva didn't know what she was to do! Pregnant, she was pregnant, and she didn't know who the father was! She was showing the slightest signs of motherhood already as she paced to one side of her cavern and then back to the other in worry. Already she'd gone over the possibilities, and each outcome of her thought process left her more distressed.
Ororo would be so disappointed.
Kweupe would be so unhappy.
Kiamba.... oh, Kiamba was going to be furious...!
The last realization brought unrestrained tears to her eyes, how could it not? She couldn't blame him. She'd betrayed them both, trying so hard to seek the better solution that she threw rational judgement out the window and laid with another that was neither. She felt horribly cheap, sullied, and undeserving. What type of example would she be for any children she birthed? She just prayed that they were Kiamba's, maybe he would understand, at least he wouldn't be angry then. Ororo would accept them regardless, it was just the kind of lion he was, and Kweupe.... no, better if.... if he didn't know. They would have it hard enough with two possible fathers, but if they really were Kweupe's cubs it'd be best if she didn't drag him into the middle of the mess she'd created from her irresponsibility.
What was she to do?
~Kami.... Mpenzi, I wish I could talk to you, I wish I'd just been born mortal, then maybe this wouldn't be happening like this.~
Oh high goddess (Mkodi), what were the priests and the other Unity Walkers going to think of her? Some patron of Unity she was.
Her gaze shifted sharply, suddenly. She just couldn't take it anymore. She needed fresh water, a cold dunk. It was late into the night hours, well past the setting of the sun and long before his rise. No one would notice her out at this hour.
She eased from her generously sized "den" and padded down the rock and flora lined path to the sandy mound that served as the bank of the lake. The water was cold through her fur, but just the shock she needed to calm down some. It wasn't too much longer after that than the goddess had eased in to her chest, letting her tears mingle in the dark waters, staring up into the face of the moon.
((.... >.<;; That was grade-A-crap. Sorry for the jerky post.))

The days had toiled long and Ororo hadn't bothered to make much effort in searching or scouting about for mischief or the churning thrill of adventure. His heart had grown heavy with the loss of contact with the godess, Kiva. Where had she gone? Had she found someone else or, perhaps, Kiamba had swindled her by force and guilt and had made certain that the fair godess would only be loyal to him. Oh, but if Kiamba knew that Lisani knew of what he had done to Kiva...well-- that would be one thing he didn't want to know the consequences of.
Curled up, loosely as his forepaws crossed and created a resting spot for his head, the young adolescent gritted his teeth and moaned within the silence of the night. Black banded ears flickered as his body seemed to supress a shiver. He was acustomed to being forlorn within both day and night but, lately, sleep had not come to him so easily and he had been left to batter off the inner demons and fears that had, for so long, continuiously haunted him.
Lisani was troubled.
As his ocher orbs drew open, the adolescent drew in heavy breaths as he staggered forth from his small hideaway concealed within the brush. Deaftly, softly, Ororo began padding towards the sandy banks of the lake in search to soothe a midnight thrist and to calm his aching heart.
His train of thought blocked out any recognition or recollection to the familiar scent that wafted within the air as his eyes were cast down upon the ground, the once brilliant appearance full of life were dulled and had lost their lustor. Ambling and stumbling, Ororo'Lisani trudged on towards the edge of the lake and dipped his maw into the cool waters.
Intaking and drinking heavily, the young adolescent seemed oblivious by groggy and insomnia sensations that the one he loved so dearly was only lengths away from where he stood.

She didn't dare move for a few moments, recognizing that someone was drawing near. She was afraid that maybe Kiamba had caught her scent, and was coming to demand to know why she'd disappeared on them again, and she wasn't ready to face those questioning, angry, pained eyes. Fate seemed to have something only just kinder in store though. The more understanding of the two brothers was the vision that greeted the goddess, mid step.
Now, the last time they'd met like this, Ororo misunderstood her, and the scene almost ended on painful terms. So, Kiva felt torn between hurting him with the truth, and hurting him with a misunderstanding. A repeat of that would be just...
"It seems like I always run into you when I least expect it, and maybe when I most need it..." She said with a sad note of irony in her tone.
((Btw, Ronso, >w< Kiva's an adult now, XD; rather than an adol, sorry for the sort of "back and forth"!))

With ocher eyes cast down into his reflection and peering into the depths of the lake, there was a strange sensation that overtook the young adolescent. These feelings-- why? Why did they urge him to look for her? Ororo still loved her and there never was really a time where his heart denied and rebuked such emotions. Lisani loved her and if only he could see her, talk to her and--
Black banded ears flickered, perking upwards as a soft voice broke through the silence of the night. As his mouth was filled with water from his last drink, Lisani's maw gaped open as he gasped.
Could it be?
Was this another dream or heartless games his mind was playing?
Slowly drawing his head upwards, Ororo'Lisani blinked several times as his gaze settled upon the figure that had lingered within his dreams and the one whom he had, for so long, yearned to be with again.
It was Kiva, the godess of Unity.
A warm, calming smile came upon his maw as he padded several steps towards her, his tail swaying behind him with a slightly intimidated and cautious approach.
"It's--surreal to even see you," he commented with a slight disheartened tone, "and I can't be sure that this isn't another dream that haunts me even when I'm awake. But the moons light graces you all to perfectly and even in my dreams you're beauty cannot be matched."
Musing softly with a smile, Lisani chuckled softly as he gazed into the eyes of the godess.
"It's an honor and a pleasure to see you again, Kiva. It's been a while.."

To hell with formalities.
Kiva moved in closer, closing the distance between them, and buried her face against his cheek, brushing her head firmly along his until her nose nestled into his growing streaked mane. All the while she couldn't stop herself from purring, eyes shut with relieved bliss for just one moment even. After all this time apart, he was still just as much of a charmer now as he had been then, but she just felt her heart settle in at peace. She'd missed the sound of his voice, she was sure that she couldn't stand being away from him.
"I missed you, Ororo, but I'm afraid..." She pulled back some then, duckingher head a bit as she withdrew. "I'm afraid you won't be so happy to see me, soon."

His ocher orbs seemed to drift as, good natured and still cautious to make the wrong move or to turn her away, Lisani stood there as he only hoped that she too felt the pains of their separation. His mind mused and tumbled about when they were together-- the night where they became as one and laid there underneath the heavens as godess and mortal had brought their ties, which were not highly looked upon, together.
The adolescent gasped slightly but purred soothingly as the godess buried her face within the midsts of his streaked mane, feeling her gentle caressing sensations upon his back and her scent-- that blessed, arousing scent, filling his nostrils once again.
This was no dream.
She was here, Kiva was with him.
Nuzzling against her as he brushed against her and daintily planted a small lick upon her cheek, Ororo tilted his head slightly. "Won't be happy to see you? Kiva, if this is about Kiamba--just don't worry about it. I'm not mad. Love consumes me and hatred for such things has no place within my heart."
Bringing his nose to press lightly against that of the godess, Lisani smiled softly.
"Fear is the heart of darkness, Kiva. And whatever happens I'll follow you into the dark."

About Kiamba... if only it were that simple.
She allowed their noses to touch, her face still tingling where he'd placed his kiss, yet she couldn't meet his eyes. Instead, she grit her teeth, clenching her jaw and lowered her gaze again to the waters surrounding their paws.
"No..... I.... I'm.... I'm pregnant, Ororo.... and, between three of you.... I don't know who the father is..."

His maw gaped open as his ocher orbs widened slightly, blinking as he tried to comprehend the spoken words. The heart that filled his chest seemed to burden, feeling as if it was to simply fall and tear out of his chest. Yet, at the same time, he expected-- no, he knew that Kiamba would have obeyed his sexual need for dominance sooner or later and, as for himself, Ororo let his passion and love speak for himself and entwine both godess and mortal for a time. But a third? There was another?
Wincing as sharp pains from an imaginary invalid gnashed upon his heart and his very soul, Lisani closed his eyes and felt his legs shake. His body trembled and flushed with a weakened feeling as if he had not the strength to even stand.
"....Pregnant....." the word rolled off his tongue in a soft, shocked manner as he stood there, eyes still closed, and held back the tears that his body sought to shed. "I'm-- I'm sorry, Kiva....I should have never interferred or...if it wasn't for Kiamba and I we wouldn't be in this--"
He couldn't think clearly nor could he convey his thoughts without his tongue stumbling and faultering. This...this was his fault yet, at the same time, he couldn't help but feel that he was never good enough to kindle passions with a godess. Ororo'Lisani was only a mortal.
Nothing more.
The weight of the situation fell upon his own shoulders, burdening himself with guilt which, so often, he let fall upon his shoulders. Thoughts and emotions tied, twisted and transformed the adolescent into one who was sorrowful and angry. Angry that he felt discarded and belittled that this unknown other and Kiamba would be so lustful as to have the need to seduce and proclaim their own love to her.
Yes.
Ororo'Lisani was jealous yet heartbroken.
"What is it that you want? Strength? Brawns? An exotic nature? I don't have much to offer; I'm not strong but my heart and my mind makes up for what I lack." Shaking his head as small tears began trailing down his cheeks, Lisani stifled a small moan.
"I'm not one to cast a stone, to belittle, hate or lash out for what you've done. I'm not possesive, I'm not dominant-- I'm me. Kiva...whatever happens you know I'm always here but I'm no ones punching bag. My heart can only take so much..."

"Please.... please, understand... I love you both! But I can't stand to see Kiamba at such ends with you. I made a mistake, I'm not the perfect female that you both idolize me to be! I make mistakes, just like everybody else!"
How she wished with every fiber of her being that the cubs would be his, and not Kweupe's. And, high-goddess help her, if Ororo did turn her away she'd just give up now, for if he wouldn't forgive her she knew without a doubt that Kiamba wouldn't. Could she really handle raising cubs on her own?
She felt a new wash of shame as his tears began to mingle in the water, and tried to step closer, stubbornly biting back her own tears. She didn't deserve to shed them.
"Please, Ororo, I told you before, if I have to choose, it would be you. If you can't forgive me then... I've no choice but to respect that, but please, all I ask is one more chance, though I know it's far more than I deserve. All I want is you, and in all the times I've been reborn, I've never felt like this for anyone, let alone two. I panicked... I've already driven a family apart once, I didn't want to be responsible for it happening again, and I can't raise one on my own."

"Kiamba only seeks power that will benifit himself and any means that can assert his dominance," he stumbled, a slight choke to his words as he glanced back towards the godess with trailing tears. "Kiva...I still love you regardless of whats happened."
Biting his lower lip Ororo stepped closer to her, tail lying limp behind him as he stood there listening. He loved her-- Ororo'Lisani loved the godess, Kiva, and never..no, he could not deny his heart of what passions consumed his heart and his whole being. The wash of riled emotions that brought chaos to his troubled soul became diluted, washing away, as he retracted his hard feelings and changed his perspective.
To him, there was little chance that Kiamba or this other unknown male would take up duty to raise the cubs that, perhaps, they had fathered due to their lust for sexual pleasure and where would that leave Kiva? What about the godess? She didn't deserve to be abandoned with a new family whose fatherly figure had abandoned them.
But if the cubs were his...
He'd have a family.
But if they weren't his--
"Whatever happens, Kiva, whoever is the father of the cubs, I'll stand by your side. Even if they aren't mine I'll step in and offer any help." Slowly padding closer towards her, Lisani brushed against her and purred softly.
"I'm here for you."

She settled onto her haunches to sit, and drew her forelegs up to wrap around his neck giving him an odd (for felines, anyway) show of affection, burying her face in his mane again as though she refused to let go. She couldn't keep doing this, to-and-fro. How Lim could be so loose and free she didn't understand, was she really just naive, or had he not known a love like the one she felt for the mortal brothers? Perhaps. She didn't think badly of him for it, it simply wasn't the lifestyle for her. She couldn't do that to them, especially not to Ororo, who had just made such a promise to her, who before all of this mess, even, had made such promises to her. She couldn't fault Kiamba for his ways either, but, in the end she knew now that her heart called strongest for the fairer pelted of the two. It always had, hadn't it?
"I'm sorry that I hurt you, Ororo. Never again..." She murmered, pulling back to lick his face, drawing away the tears that were staining his cheeks.
And this time, her choice, her promise was for certain. No one would sway her again so easily.

The fair pelted adolescent smiled warmly as the godess wrapped her forelegs about his neck. As she spoke, her words caressed his thoughts and soothed his tumultious fears and brought peace back unto his soul. As Kiva wiped away the trailing tears from his face, Ororo purred softly and, following in her example of affection, stood upon his haunches and wrapped his paws around her waist. It was an odd position, true, but this way he felt closer, safer beside her.
Nuzzling into her as he daintily drifted his muzzle across the cheeks and face of the godess, Ororo'Lisani drew his head closer towards her and planted a gentle kiss upon her nose.
"Kiva...there's no apology needed," he whispered softly, deaftly as his ocher orbs trailed up to meet her gaze. "I will always love you and nothing will tear me from you."

"I'm glad... I'm so glad, Ororo..." She seemed to relax as well finally, feeling her heart calm, she purred softly, timidly. Her body did shiver, however, as the chill of the water finally seeped into her skin, no longer feeling so warm.
"Ororo, we have to keep it a secret from the others. I don't know what Mteuli and Mteule would think if they knew, and Kiamba would never forgive the matter... I'll stay here, with the Pride, in the caverns beyond the shrine's entrance. It's easy for me to come and go through there, and the cubs won't be able to wander."
Assuming they didn't have wings...
"But... I'd like if you could visit.... at night, like this, so that Kiamba and the others don't catch on. The lake would mask my scent from them."

"My heart sings! To be here with you again-- I can't even fully express how much it means to me but, please, know that I would give my life for you if ever the moment called for such actions."
Stepping through the brisk, cold water as small wakes trailed with his movement, Ororo smiled warmly with a small nod of his head as she spoke. Yes, he would have to keep it a secret from everyone else and nonchalantly dissapear at moonrise to venture to see her again.
Would it be difficult?
Perhaps.
But, at this rate, Lisani didn't care just as long as he was to be by the godess's side again and in her presence.
"Of course, of course!" He whispered softly as he brushed against her, his nostrils intaking her blessed scent once more. "I will follow you anywhere and do anything just to see you again as well as to make sure that you're comfortable and taken care of."
As his tail swayed behind him and glided atop the surface of the water, Ororo smiled.
"I'm not letting you get through this alone. I'm with you all the way."
