It even looked like a lazy day. The sun was shielded behind layers of darkened grey clouds that spilled rain from the heavens, causing the crystal droplets of water to tap out a melody on the leafy tree underwhich a clay-toned female was laying sprawled out in the grass.
Though her coat was normally glossy and almost a solid shade of a warm orangey brown, today it was matted tightly to her thin frame with mostly mud and some rain and its color almost mimiced that of an orange and brown dalmation, but Kia was content this way. Dirt and all.
Even if she did feel the need to hide the fact that she was dirty and unkept her sound and constant snoring would leave way to the fact that she was much too deep into sleep to care otherwise.

Jini was loping along through the grass, his strides long and awkward. He was still getting used to his growing spurts that had been popping up lately and found his longer gate a little off-setting. But if he felt or tumbled he'd always offer a sheepish smile and get up again. He might be a little shy and not very self confident(at least not compared to the women in his family), but he was strong of heart.
His white ears perked slightly and he slowed, his soft smile becoming a curious frown. He took a few slow, careful steps toward the sound he had heard. Then he spotted a matted lioness sleeping near by. He stopped, looking a little dismayed and uncertain of what to do. He supposed he should leave her to her sleep...

Kia snorted in her sleep, flopping over onto her side so that she was facing the newcoming stranger, her eyes were still squinted tightly shut but the young lioness was awakening.
Stretching her large, worn paws far in front of her, her jaws parted into a large lazy yawn. The female just lay there for a few moments, her head cushioned in a pillow of grass as she finished stretching, her eyelids slowly opening to reveal to her that she wasn't by herself.
Her eyebrows rose almost worriedly as she sprung to her fours, her green eyes wide with shock more than fear as she looked the male up and down. Rendering him harmless she tilted her head, still slightly overcome by surprise.
"W-who are you?"

Jini took a step backwards as she showed signs of stirring and was tempted to leave right now. But then she was up and jumping in surprise, which in turn made him skid backwards slightly in his own form of startlement. Shyly he felt his white ears pull back to vanish among his forming black and white mane. Green eyes appeared sheepish and apollogetic, "I'm sorry...I...didn't mean to wake you." He wasn't sure if he had, but all the same, he was sorry for it, "I'm...Jini. What about you...?" He hoped he didn't seem rude, asking for her name so quickly.

Kia's head tilted involuntarily to the side as he spoke, speaking in a way that reminded her vaguely of a young cheetah that Kia had met once. Although she was very small and pink, and this male was neither of these things. The comparison made her chuckle.
"You silly boy, you didn't wake me up" a small smile was on her face, the fact that he had reminded her of an old friend had put her in a good mood early on "I woke up on my own, saying sorry to me for that is nonsense talk."
She sat on her haunches, her tail wrapping and unwrapping about her muddy frame as she sat, quite cheerful for just waking up and quite a bit too cheerful for the rain.
"Enchanted Jini," she said simply "my name's Kia.... beautiful day isn't it?"

Jini flushed under his fur, bowing his head subconciously as he took the correction. Though he was almost near adulthood, at times he felt like he was a cub again, being told of his folly. "Ah...alright...sorry..." there he went again, apollogizing. But he couldn't really help it, for it was his nature.
He offered a smile that was rather charming, if a little dorking and sheepish, "Ah...it's very nice to meet you!" He nodded his head, slowly letting his white ears pull forward a little. But only a little. "Yeah it's...really pretty...probably the nicest it's been all week."

"I agree" she said with a sharp sort of a nod, large drops of water running down the sides of her face as they fell from the leaves above.
Kia paced a bit, her eyes intently scanning the ground as she stepped, her paw sinking into the mud and causing wet bubbles to seep up from under her feet with every step that she took. She continued taking slow strides until her feet touched water. Her face lit up on finding this perfect puddle. Large and wet, it would do just fine.
A sly sort of smirk curled across her features, a glint in her eyes that had mischief written all over them as she looked back to the other male.
"Tell me Jini" she said slowly, with particular emphasis on his name "Do you like the rain?" A goofy grin spread across her face, she must have looked quite silly with her fur wet and dripping so that the most of it was nearly covering her eyes.

Jini watched her with uncertainty, bound by the good manners that were part of who he was. He had no idea what she was doing but...he wasn't going to question her. Though he did wonder a bit what she was doing. And then when she gave him that look he had to pause, feeling a little bit of dread. His sister had looked at him like that before...and it had always meant she was up to something. Trying to keep the conversation alive and sincere he did his best to pay it no mind, "Ah...I love the rain...I guess it's something I got from Mom. She'll go out and catch her death in it if we let her..." He gave a lopsided smile, hoping he didn't sound to silly.

Her ears swiveled forward as he spoke, she bit her bottom lip in anticipation of any words that may in any way resemble those of which she wanted to hear. Fortunately for Kia, she did hear those words 'I love the rain' he said. She couldn't have had a better response. Her grin grew exceptionally wide and the rest of what he said flew right in one ear and straight out the other. What he had to say was rather boring in comparison with what she was thinking of.
"I'm quite glad you love the rain so much Jini" she said forcedly sweetly, pausing and looking at her feet before she continued "Because you're about to get very wet!"
She laughed, scooping her paws beneath the surface of the puddle and thrusting her paws upwards, sending little drops of water up and in Jini's direction. She wasn't sure if she had hit her target, but she found the situation quite comical and was already in streams of laughter. Even as some of the water that she flung pattered and splatted on her own head

Jini blinked in surprise, feeling droplets of water land on his face. The shock of the attack of the liquid faded far more quickly then his realization of what she was doing. She was making fun of him. Feeling his self confidence get knocked down a step his white ears pressed against his skull. He tried to offer a smile and go along with the joke but...the facial expression turned out to be shakey and a little hurt. She hadn't cared at all about anything he said and...he really didn't know what to do.
"Hehe....that's a good one..." He chuckled half-heartedly.

Kia's enjoyment quickly faded as she noticed the effect her splashing had on her companion. She frowned slightly, picking up another emotion mixed in with the male's shaky smile. Kia knew better to mess with other lions this way, she remembered what happened the last time one of her little pranks turned sour and didn't want the same thing to occur again. Her last little trick ended with another very angry male lion storming away from her... all because of what Kia thought was a little joke. She never should have splashed this male, how she hated to be disliked.
She sniffled a little bit, trying to keep her over emotional eyes from watering as her expression quickly twisted into a deeper frown
"Please don't run away." she said quickly, not thinking of how silly it sounded "I meant no harm, honestly!"
Confusion swept over Kia's face, what was she to do now? Kia was very unwise when it came to the inner workings of other beings' minds, and she had come to find the workings of a male's mind much more sophisticated than those of her own gender, in her experience anyhow. The poor fellow must be experiencing a waterfall of emotional distress right now (this is as Kia pictured it in her own blank mind anyways) Kia only worried about what she would do next to keep him from hating her.

Jini was surprised at her distress...for he hadn't expected it. Guilt rose in his heart, despite the fact that he really didn't have any reason to feel guilty. But somehow he felt her sadness was his fault...and he felt horrible, even if she had been making fun of him moments before. Strangely, he was the type of person who often fretted and cared for others long before he did so for himself.
"Ah! N-no, no, I'm sorry! It was a real good joke, honest I just...was s-surprised! I won't run away, I'm sorry," he pleaded with her, seeing she struggled to hold back tears. He'd never forgive himself if he made her cry simply because he had been overly sensative.

((oh no! two mushpots! xDD))
"you promise?" she said sniffing, looking worried and rather pathetic with her wet and drooping fur "I won't ever splash you with water again, okay?" she added this on quickly after some thought, for Kia's mind deduced that this was indeed the reason why he seemed upset.
"and I'm sorry too, I never should have splashed you with water, that was very bad of me" she nodded seriously, her brows rose as if she was genuinely appaled with her own bad behavior.

Jini shook his head, "Ah...n-no! Really, it's fine. It was just a joke, so it's no big deal, r-really...!" He felt increasingly bad for upsetting her and making her think it was all her fault...it appeared she hadn't been trying to be mean or anything. He had just been silly. And now look! "I-I'm sorry...and I promise...I'm not running anywhere." He assured her, though he wasn't sure why she would have thought he'd run away. That was beyond rude and very irresponsible. But weren't they quite the funny pair, both being all apollogetic and sheepish at the same time? Things normally didn't happen that way.
