This subject arose last week after my usual Tuesday night Reiki class, as me and the others in my group were talking, but I was wondering how others felt about doing spiritual healing (such as reiki and whatnot) for a profit.
On one hand, everyone needs money for food, housing, and whatnot, and from what I've seen other reiki healers charge, the pay is pretty decent (so long as you have a steady stream of clientelle).
However, my view on the subject is a little bit different. I do see charging for healing as a permissable practice, so long as the client is able to pay, however, it is not somthing which I would do myself. I feel that were I to charge for healing it would be exploitation of the practice, and it would be betraying the principle of divine love and divine healing which is often utilized by spiritual healers.
Also, when I finally do become a Reiki master, I will not charge for lessons and attunements(I do occassionally give lessons to friends, though I'd be willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn... as for attunements, only masters are supposed to do those, and I'm unsure of how they work exactly anyways...). My master paied over $1000 for lessons so that she could become a master, but she now gives free lessons and attunements to anyone who is willing to learn.
I just wanted to see what others thought of this practice. Just remember, debate is allowed, but no flaming others. 3nodding

Divine healing for pay... does your healing involve any type of witchcraft? Because I'm a Wicca, and we're not ever supposed to do or make spells or potions for pay.

It does not involve any witchcraft, though it utilizes a blend of prayer, meditation, and connection to divinity and your inner self. 3nodding
Also, I am familiar with the Wiccan principle of not whoring out your potions or spellwork for profit.

I feel like it's better to ask clients for a donation rather than a payment, however, payment isn't wrong as long as money doesn't interfere with what you're trying to do, since you haven't taken any oaths per say, such as the Rede, prohibiting you from accepting financial compensation. Otherwise doctors would be rather put out.
