I honestly don't see why everyone is so worked up about this. He died what he loved doing, which was being out in nature with wild animals. I can honesly say that I did not like his show. It seemed so bad compared to other shows about that kind of stuff. And I don't think he was a native Australian. I guess I just don't see what the huge deal is.

Stever Irwin was a national icon. People even contemplated a national holiday for his death, i kid you not.
He was part of Australian Quarentine and Inspection (or something like that) Agency, and he did an enormous amout of work as far as wildlife goes.
He raised australian tourism, promoted well-being of nature, and changed the way animal documentaries are done.
Just to name a little.
he was like teddy roosevelt in a way that he was EXTREMELY good for the environment. (t. roosevelt was the best president as far as united states conservation of the environment goes. he created a bunch of national parks, preservations, etc. etc.)

I never really liked his show either, but I'm still shocked and saddened that he died. He's one of those people that you just EXPECT to be around, every day. I didn't particularly like his show either, but I liked him.
The strangest thing is that death by Stingray is a FREAK accident. The last time it was recorded was sometime in the 1940's. And for him to die by such a rare occurence makes the whole ordeal even more tragic.
Oh, and Steve Irwin is a native Australian

I hate how people are saying he was a good father. I mean, he was holding one of his children while he was feeding a crocodile. I know he's a professional, but he still could have tripped or something. I am still shocked, though. I saw him as someone who would never die.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead, so rest in peace, Steve. D''':

Another activist is dead ironically by what he is fighting for constantly.
The Animal Kingdom Triumphs unexpectedly.
