Today was a strange out-of-routine day for Yakuti. He did not patroll like he usually did, instead he went past the edges of the graveyard in an attempt to hunt some larger game, he was tired of eating only mice and rabbits, not to mention they were scrawny. He moved carefully and rather gingerly, as he had three long, deep cuts on his right side, claw marks from the lion Kikausha.
He began to sneak up upon a baby gazelle, separated from its herd. It was his lucky day, the thing was easily caught, probably tired from the hot sun and trying to catch up with its fellows. He took it down, giving it a quick death by way of crushing its throat. He began to dine on his prey, it had been a long time since he had so much food at one time.

Lamyae was a dusty black adult hyena, her body in peak shape and her mind just as sharp. She was ready for anything, well almost anything. A not so assertive alpha female that was trying to get others to join her pride, the goddess ahd explained that it was imparitive that she preach her word and gather an army of sorts. So she walked along slowly looking for any other hyenas.
Completely used to seeing young hyenas her mind adjusted naturally as she spied the blue hyena eating his fresh kill. It was unusually late in the season for there to be such young gazelle.
Whooping a small hello and holding back her laughter Lamyae spoke, "Hello there good brother!"

Yakuti perked up his ears and lifted his head, seeing a new face. "Hello, and who might you be?" He asked, cocking his head to one side as he observed the much larger female, though everything was pretty big compared to him, being a juvenile.
"Would you care for some of my meal? I have enough for myself and then some." He said proudly.
He was hoping to convince this female to join the graveyard pack, as he tried with all hyenas he met, little did he know that this one had a pack of her own, and their beliefs were very different from his own...

"I am Lamyae, the voice of god, and no little one I would not like some of your meal. That was a good kill, I'd assume clean and you caused little suffering. Tell me, do you have a family?" Her eyes twinkled as she grew into her element, preaching. She stepped closer to his side and sat down on her haunches beside him.
Her mind fluttered and as it did she wondered why she had met so many motherless young ones, she hoped this one had a mother, not only to recruit them both, but for his sake. Mafa's lot was something to be feared and she noticed that Mafa did as she did, taking in young ones and molding them in her image.
She did not fear Mafa and had much respect for her, she feared most hyenas though, they were hatefilled and unpredictable. She had seen some lash out against lions, and others lash out against each other. The only one that she trusted right now was Erevu, he was her general, her leader.
Looking down at Yakuti again her eyes widened, "Your side..!"

He shrugged, if she didn't want any that was fine with him, though he didn't resume eating just yet, he wanted to talk to this newcomer. She seemed nice enough, though the nice ones didn't seem to be as keen to join Mafas pack.
Yakuti shook his head, "My mother is long gone, but I'm fine on my own." He said, there was no sadness in his voice, he never really knew her, and therefore there wasn't much to miss.
"Yeah, some lion did that to me, filthy creatures..." He said with a slight growl in his voice. In reality it was his own fault, for being stupid and for provoking him, but regardless, it was a lion who scratched him.

"Ahh, little one the Goddess will always watch and protect you, she is your mother as well as any other," Lamyae had a mystifying quality to her voice, it was smooth and graceful, like her movements.
"Don't ever say that, lions are our equals, and the one you ran into was probably tainted," she huffed slightly at the thought. A lion is not a filthy beast, a lion gave birth to her.
The voice of god worked in mysterious ways sometimes and she heard nothing for weeks from the Goddess. The voice was actually her gift of seeing the future and past mixed together with a delusion that she is actually the daughter of a god. She has no recollection of her family. She had only shown her actual powers to one other, and that was a skeptical male hyena.

Yakuti shrugged again, "If you say so, but I haven't received any protection or anything from any goddess." He said in a rather unbeleiving voice.
"I'll say what I want about those beasts, and they are far from out equals, they are below us! Wasteful, cowardly creatures..." He said, no longer wanting her in the pack. None of them would want someone who liked lions in the pack, least of all Mafa.

"I see you are one of Mafa's, the gods themselves could not will her brats to enlightenment, or even a little bit of knowledge. You are a nothing but ignorant," her temper had started to flare earlier in the day, it was hard to explain feelings of such passion about her Goddess.
"Eat your supper young one, people who preach hate die young deaths," she snorted and a chilly laugh echoed from within her.

Yakuti let out a harsh laugh, "You are no better it would seem, I judge lions because of their spite towards me, and you, you even judge you're own kind because I believe differently than you." He scoffed, shaking his head, "You have you're beleifs and I have mine, I have been done wrong by lions, have I really inflicted so much pain into you as this?" He asked, indicating his side, "I should think not."
Before resuming his feast he said one last thing to the black hyena, "Those who are foolish die even younger deaths."

"I believe that most hyenas and lions are just taught wrong, I do not hate because of one's thoughts. I feel anger because ones so young have such hateful views towards lions. Should you not judge them on a case by case basis, not just as a whole," she spoke up a more urgent tone edging into her voice, "I have the goddess on my side, and many hyenas, I have nothing to fear."
A cackled rumbled from within her body adn was quickly expeled, loudly.

Yakuti shook his head, "have it your way, but no matter what you say I will stay true to what I beleive, if nothing else, I know my place and I only wish lions knew theirs. We stay off their land, I only wish they could learn to stay off ours, there are plenty of other places lions could be welcomed, but us hyenas? Few places, very few, and yet they still try to take it from us." He said sadly, a hint of anger in his voice.

Lamyae sighed quietly to herself she wasn't sure how to respond, this was a complex thing. Mafa had many a hyena brain washed, many lions would accept and even LOVE lions, but that wasn't to say that they were completely gentle towards one another.
"You are but a child, and I must admit that your views are based on what you have seen, and it seems you've seen little..." she paused looking over the young one. It would do no good to try and get to Yakuti, he was brain washed by his own alpha.

Yakuti wasn't really brainwashed, merely convinced, and it didn't take much convincing, but regardless, he was tired of arguing with this one, and really just wanted her and her 'goddess' to leave.
"Fine, but I know for a fact that I'm more intelligent than many much older than yourself." He said coldly, "I know how I feel, and I suppose you're just as set in your beleifs as I am in mine, it would appear we are at a draw. I just want you to know that just because I'm with Mafa, doesn't mean I don't know anything, and just because you have a 'goddess' with you doesn't mean you know everything." He said with a scowl.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I have business elsewhere." He said, beginning to drag the tiny, half-eaten gazelle back to his den. Perhaps he would add its skull and small horns, maybe even its hoves to his collection of lovely bones.

The dusty black hyena alughed heartily, he WAS brain washed. MAfa's tactics were well played, go for the younger crowd. She had hear and also met Mafa and it was truly a join us or be ostricized situation. She understood his need to go and in the same instance wanted to beg him to say, but there was little to nothing left to say to teh young male, may they meet again under good terms and a better situation.
" Enjoy your meal little one, have a good life. Long days, pleasant nights," and with that last response she started into a different direction away from the odd like hyena and his precious kill.

Yakuti looked back at her, "The same to you, I hope we can meet again and perhaps have a nicer conversation." He said before continuing on his way. He had no interest in her at the moment, but perhaps some other time they could become more agreeable...
Perhaps with some luck he could pursuade her to beleive him.
