"Oh, your artwork is lackluster" says some elitist hate-everything-that-is-popular idiot from the anime forum.
Let me ask you something, Mr. Coolanticonformist: How many peopel can make a character that doesn't just wear some generic tshirt and jeans, lolita dress, pirate outfit, etc? How many people can get proportions perfect o nearly perfect (i.e. no chicken legs, no body parts larger or smaller than tehy are supposed to be, no limbs in odd positions)? How many peopel can draw folds that don't just look like a bunch of oddly-placed lines?
Lemme guess, it's lackluster because it's not coloured?
Well ******** you, too.
Just about anyone can learn basic Photoshop colouring in a week or less. Not everyone can learn to draw and make uniques characters.
It seems to me that the only work that is appreciated is coloured work, if it's not coloured, or pencil-shaded, nobody freakin' cares about it.
Even if the proportions are way off and the character design is boring, if it's coloured with Photoshop or some other art program, it's good art.
Time and time again I've posted my lineart in forums, but I get barely any responses. I don't /like/ to colour my art in Photoshop, because my art computer is crap.
Really, is it that hard to ask for people to pay attention to the creativity and effort put into a peice, rather than whether or not it's nice, fancy, colourfull, and shiney?
I'm honestly considering on giving up on art for half a year again.
If I don't get any recognition because the critics are all a bunch of superficial asshats, then what's the point of even continuing?
