Heat rode over the Pridelands these days, stifling each breath with the sheer dry weather all about. Today was mercy to those who prayed for rain, or just a simple breeze on those hottest of days. Clouds drifted through the sky, white, fluffy, and happily blocking out the intensity of the sun. A breeze played through the air, soothing the wounds of heat and thirst with a cooling touch. After all, clouds might mean rain. Someday.

Of course, he would not be praying for rain to anything, stars, gods, or Circle. The thought of anyone doing that was almost inconceivable, but then again, there were oddballs in every group. With a flick of his bi-colored tail, Baakir descended the steps from the den, the gentle gift from any powers that may be ruffling his half grown black mane.

What was there to do today? It wasn't sunny, so finding a new rock to sunbathe on (His had gotten too small, but sacrifices must be made when growing up) and procede to dream the day away was not in his immediate options. He paused near the bottom of the steps, turning to look for someone to talk to.

The lioness chuckled softly, well hidden within the shadows of the overhanging rock ledges. She spied Baakir not far from where she hid, picking him out by his distinctively bi-colored tail. Her friend had grown since she had last seen him, that was for sure; he'd grown taller, bulker, and the telltale mane that characterized most male lions were begining to grow. He was unaware of her presence, just what the lioness had hoped.

What is this, you might ask, a trap? Oh no, rest assured that it was nothing of that sort. Some friendly playing was all this was. Nelu's tail wipped back and forth behind her as she remembered amusingly how she and Baakir had met last time. That was when he was quite a youngest actually, and he had actually pounced on her. No hard feelings though, and they had became friends, but Nelu had always wanted to pounce her friend the way he had pounced on her. And look now, she had just happened to chance upon her friend coming out from his den on one of her morning strolls and had hidden herself in the shadows before he had noticed; what prime good chance this was.

Now if only he would step just a bit closer to her...

He let loose a small sigh, finishing his walk down the stone stairs, and neared the hiding place of his friend, though he was unaware that it was so. It might be a nice day, so long as the rain kept away. Baakir looked up at the den, wondering silently if he might catch sight of Nelu sometime today. When everyone was up there asleep, it wasn't always easy to pick someone out. Well, face the day with high hopes!

((New cubbeh! *points to your sig*

... do excuse the slowness.. ;_; school's totaly bogging me down...))
"BAAAAAAAAAAAKIR!"

The lioness let out a squeal of unequaled proportions as she took off from her hiding place, pushed into the air with a powerful shove of her hind legs, and sailed toward her friend, with paws outstretched and tail in mid-air. Of course Nelu had eyed the distance carefully, calculating her landing spot to be just a bit off to the left of Baakir, though close enough for her intendent purposes; of course she wasn't going to land on top of him as he did her last time, no, that would definite crush the poor guy, and Nelu didn't want that.

((Yeppers. ^^ Kasai gave her to me.

It's okay. I understand. -nods-))

Baakir halted at the voice yelling his name, his head looking towards the lioness. Seeing her pouncing towards him caused him to jump back, his fur standing a bit on end. As Nelu landed, his pelt began to fuzz down as his heartbeat slowed to normality. "Hello." He said shortly, his shoulders lifting up and dipping as the excitement fled. "Nice to see you again, Nelu!"

The lioness giggled with childish delight as she saw her friend jump back; it was a soft purring sound. "You too!" and Nelu meant it. She bounced forward to give Baakir a friendly nudged, still eyeing the growned up lion curiously.

Nelu was uncharacteristically energetic today, though she herself had no idea why. Perhaps it was the restful sleep she had last night...

"My, my," the lioness pipped, circling Baakir with light and airful steps, "You've grown." It was amazing how the youth grew, it really was. As for Nelu herself, she was past that stage, and hadn't changed much since their last meeting.

At her statement, he gave a small grin, his tail flicking. "Well, I couldn't stay little forever and let you have all the fun." Baakir was very glad to be past the little stages of cub and juvenile. There was more fun to be had now that he was older, after all.

"What have you been up to since we last met?" He was curious. If Nelu had made other friends, than maybe he hadn't been looking hard enough at his fellow pridemembers all this time.

"Oh nothing much," the lioness smiled and gestured with a nonchalant wave of her paw. "I've been enjoying life" Nelu hadn't met any more pridelanders since their last meeting; she'd been living the quiet life, with occasional chats with her sister Aadil.

"Anything new with you?" Nelu asked.

"I made a new friend since our last meeting. She's... nice." Baakir grinned up at her. He may have grown, but she was still a little bit bigger than him. Well... at least he wasn't that small anymore.

"Oh?" the lioness enquired with a raised eyebrow. It was a pleasant day indeed, just the right day it would seem for a pleasant conversation about this friend of her friend's. Maybe Nelu'll even meet this friend one day... you never know; a friend of a friend is a friend they say.

"Who is she? What's she like?" questions spurted out of the lioness. Nelu wondered if she know this friend of Baakir's; probably not.

Baakir nodded, thinking about her question. "Her name's Zambarau, and she's purple all over. She's really smart and nice. She took me out to hunt the other day, and it was really fun. I think you'd like her, Nelu." He smiled, imagining the two lionesses meeting up. Why was it that his two best friends were adults?

"Zambarau...?" the dark lioness murmured to herself, testing the name as it ran across her tongue. She was right; she had never ran across a lioness named Zambarau before, though she would certain have enjoyed her company according to Baakir's description.

Hunting sounded fun. "Is she a good hunter?" Nelu envied lionesses that were good hunters, unlike herself. And there were many of them; in fact everyone here at the prideland seemed to have a natural nak for hunting.
