Imbross III. Just one of the planets in Dark Tidings. The land is either scarred, or dying. Many undercround cities exist, populated by the demon-worshipping Vraekin. A continent is possessed by the Sithrugami, their only area in this sector. They are working on using necromantic ether-power to infect the moon so it is inhabitable to them, which would give them more space to live. But currently, there is no such luck.

"Just about... finished."
Jacob hurriedly clicked the "Finished" button on the screen, his hand trembling in excitement. Finally he got the Beta of Dark Tidings, the new MMO. It took 36 hours to download, but he got it. Now he had just finished his first character. Syranna D'Arus. He had used the name before in a game of D&D. Unlike most other players, he hadn't left the 3rd edition rules for the new 4th, claiming that it was "Too dumbed down", even though really, he just didn't want to buy new books. Money was hard enough to come by without spending it on more stuff.
He chose his fresh, new, character from the oh-so-long list of one, and clicked "Enter Game". Instantly, his visor was hit with a loading screen. After about a 3 minute wait, the intro started. He watched it, anticipating eargerly what was to come. Then, it showed him, or, her. Syranna. Starting at that moment, he was Syranna D'Arus. Jacob did not exist in this world, and so it would be.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Syranna faded into existance just outside a tower. She walked foreward slightly, and then looked around. The ground around her was dead ((appearning much like Blight in WarCraft 3)), and behind her, a building half metal, some stone, and some... bone? It looked like it had some sort of blue-violet light spiraling around it as well. As she looked around, all other buildings were just like it. A male Sithrugami, appearing much like a zombie, walked over to her and said:
"Ah, I see you've awakened. How went the dreaming? Did you awaken the Ether inside yourself?"
Syranna though for a bit, and said: "Yes, though I'm having a little trouble remembering events before the sleep."
"Ah, well. That happens from time to time. Do you remember where you are?"
"Not... really."
"Oh, then I'll explain. You're in the Sithrugami outpost of Kel' Sagaa. That building behind you is the Connected tower. They awaken souls to the Ether Stream through a process called the dreaming. Is any of this sounding familiar?"
"Ah, yes. I remember now. I came here immediately after the Rebirth."
"Yes. There you go. I'm sure you'll remember more as time goes on. Oh! I forgot, your armor is ready. The engineers told me to tell you once you woke up. I'd suggest going to get that."
"Thanks, err... what was your name again?"
"Indo."
"Ah, right. Indo. Thanks."
"May you bring death to your enemies, Syranna."
"And you."
Syranna walked the direction she thought the Engineering bay was. It was a small outpost, so it wasn't hard to find, even though she was a little off.
"Ah, Syranna. I got your order ready. Red Dusk is good to go." said the cheif mechanic upon seeing her enter. He motioned to another mechanic, who pressed activated a control panel. A half-blighted vehicle, enhanced by Ether brought Syranna's mech into the hangar. "I added an upgrade to the controls to the standard model. The normal ones are kind of slow."
"Thank you," replied Syranna, only half paying attention. "it's perfect."
"I worked hard on that thing, so don't get it destroyed."
"I won't." She said, waking over to it and feeling it's tough armor. It felt like bone. "Is there anything else I need to do?"
"No, it's yours. Take it."
Syranna climbed into the cockpit, and the engineers released the restraints that held it on the truck. She activated it, and the cockpit sprang to life with lights, buttons, and the main display screen.
"May you bring death to your enemies." she said over the external speaker system.
"And you." she heard the cheif say.
She walked the mech out of the bay, quickly mastering the controls.
Now, where to? She thought to herself.
