To sort of clarify, I will post an example here of a scenario that a friend and I did in that RP months ago that we'd become quite popular for, because of how we'd done it. ^_^; I have my character, Raijin and Fujin, while my "opponent" has Zell, Seifer, Nida (the kid who flew Balamb Garden around), and one of the female Treppies. You know, the Quistis fans. (They named her to avoid confusion and such.)
Here's my first post, which kicked off things. smile
***= Point of view/RPer change
***Kei, Raijin and Fujin stepped into the training facility. Kei felt better since he'd brought his sword along with him, especially considering that the reason Headmaster Cid requested his presence was because he needed him to head to that very place. Apparently, there were still some very powerful monsters lingering around the garden's training facility, and some students were in deep trouble. Without realizing it, he picked up his pace. "Kei?" Raijin called. "Yeah?", he answered as he slowed somewhat and turned back. "PROBLEM?", Fujin asked, in a voice that almost seemed unusually sympathetic, coming from her. Kei nodded somberly. "You'll see when we get there..." With that, the three of them entered the facility. Almost immediately, they heard a boisterous roar. "T-REXAUR." Fujin noted. Raijin spotted said creature, as well as the cadets, who were indeed barely holding on. "Gotta be one of the more powerful ones, though, ya know?", Raijin stated, as he pointed to someone else. "Zell's with them, too, and he wouldn't have any problems handling one of the usual T-Rexaurs from here, ya know?" "Yeah, I know.", Kei groaned and sighed. This wasn't going to be easy...*** ***Aw, man! This sucks! This is bad!", was what Zell uttered. He was running low on Blind magic and the creature had just so happened to decide to choose him as his next tasty snack. The creature turned and swiped with his tail, and with a strength rarely shown, he grabbed the creature's tail and held it taut, then looked over at the cadets. "Run!! I'll hold him!", he screamed through gritted teeth, and without a second thought, they did just that. Zell kicked himself mentally as the creatur ebegan to trash about, trying to shake him loose. *Man, what the hell am I thinking...?! Strong as this thing seems to be, I'll need all the help I can get! Hell, anybody would do...well, aside from 'the two terrors', anyway...ah, hell, who am I kidding...? Even they'd be appreciated right about now!* He looked over, and as if on cue, he spotted Kei and 'the two terrors' as he called them, Fujin and Raijin, running over. *I won't ever live this down...* he thought, *...but on the bright side, at least I'll live.*, then he let go of the creature's tail and quickly jumped back near the three as it tried its outright best to snap at him soon as he let go.***
What it boiled down to was us downing the creature, then he said thanks for the help, right before saying something snide toward Raijin (this time without provocation) about his speech pattern, which I had something to say about, my first response being "These two just helped save your life! You could have a bit more respect and dignity by showing some maturity for once. It'd be appreciated.", though right afterward, I had Raijin say sarcastically, "Don't worry about it, ya know? He didn't need us.", and Fujin follow up with "WIMP!". which set his temper off, of course.
***Pissed would describe Zell's mood pretty well right about now. Okay, sure, he was needlessly rude after just having had his life saved, and maybe it was childish of him to let words cut so deeply, but he'd had all he could take of being outwitted so soundly by Fuu and Rai, as Kei called them so affectionately. It enraged him, and as he was known to do, he let his mouth run before his mind. "FRICKIN' HELL!", he yelled, stomping to put emphasis on it. It startled the three as they turned to see just what had gotten into him, and he pointed to Fujin and Raijin. "What do ya say we settle this right here and right now? I'll do to you two what I've wanted to do to Seifer for the past year!" Somewhere in the back of his mind, his conscience berated him, nagging that he'd just made a terrible mistake.*** ***Kei grabbed Fujin and Raijin by the collars of their shirts as they stepped forward. He knew that he'd get under their skin with that particular remark, as the two were close friends with Seifer, perhaps himself being the only other person they were that close to. "RAGE!" Fujin belted, glaring daggers at Zell, who showed no signs of intimidation, while Raijin, for his part, just stood there in impressively controlled anger. "I know...", Kei sighed, then regarded Zell for a moment before turning towards them. "Go get some rest. I'll stay here and have a talk with Zell." Fujin was obviously against it, as she tried to step forward again, only to be pulled back by Raijin. "Let's go, sis.", he said, with a grin. "Things are about to get ugly in here, ya know?" She smirked at Zell, then turned with Raijin and walked off. *Okay, then.*, Kei thought before starting to unsheath his sword again, turning toward Zell as his friends exited the facility. "I'll be stepping in for those two. I'll settle it. I'm sick of the bickering, anyway. Besides..." he gave a smile that could've fooled anyone else from the outside looking in that he was either really arrogant, or outright evil. "...I think this'll be fun." *** ***Zell's thoughts of having made a mistake jumped to the forefront of his mind, and for a moment he considered backing down, but he knew that that'd make things even worse for him and his dignity. He decided to try instead to reason with Kei. He didn't know whether he exactly considered him a friend, but he'd always helped him when he needed it, so Zell always did his best to return the favor. He just didn't understand the reasoning behind hanging with two fools like Raijin and Fujin. "What's your deal, man? Why those two?", he asked, clearly confused, as he entered a defensive posture, readying himself in case his adversary decided to spring at any moment.*** ***Kei shook his head, annoyed by Zell's thickheadedness. Granted, after what happened with Seifer's betrayal, he could see why Zell would be wary around others. Still, he should've known well enough that not everyone around him was like that, and that especially included those that were acquainted with the brigand. "Just because they were his friends doesn't give you the right to patronize them. They aren't as bad as he is...or was, rather...", he stated matter-of-factly, as he began to focus his magic. He knew that even as angered as Zell was, in battle he was more or less the type to let his enemy make a mistake and capitalize, meaning that so long as he didn't attack physically, Zell would wait for an opening. As if confirming that thought, he looked over at Zell and noted his defensive posture. Wouldn't he be surprised. Attacking was the farthest thing from his mind at the moment, as he first casted Double onto himself, followed by two Curaga spells, one on himself, and one on Zell. "I want this to be fair, after all."*** ***Zell shut his eyes, bracing for whatever magic assault he was about to face, but he was pleasantly surprised to feel his strength returning to him rapidly. *A Curaga spell?*, he thought as he opened his eyes, surprised to see that Kei had indeed sent one his way. Undaunted, he went on. "You weren't here while Seifer was around! You don't know what he put us, hell, the world through!"*** ***"Actually, I do.", Kei sighed as he sheathed his sword again. "Instructor Trepe explained every event up to this point to us, including the fact that were Headmaster Cid not around, Squall would be in charge of the place." He sheathed his sword as his spell finished running its course, then stood for a few more seconds, letting his Double magic wear off, then, in what was no doubt a shock to Zell, he put down his sword. "We'll do this your way, Dincht." He smiled inwardly, growing more excited by the second by the prospect of having an actual challenge.*** ***Zell was stunned silent as he watched Kei put down his sword, not even giving a fleeting thought to Kei's explanation, as he charged in, headlong. He wasn't about to let a mere cadet upstage him, mentally or otherwise. He also felt a bit more secure knowing that Kei had discarded his weapon. Truth be told, he didn't know if he could have even thought to take him on if he had it, after watching him take out that Lunar Cry empowered T-Rexaur.*** ***Kei stood his ground as Zell charged him. It was uncharacteristic, he noted, which meant that his putting his weapon aside must have given Zell some measure of overconfidence. Zell threw two punches as he closed the gap, both of which Kei blocked easily, then he dodged the next two incoming punches, barely shifting his face just enough to let the blow flow by. In one quick motion, he stepped into Zell's next blow, catching his wrist as he did, and he threw him clear over his shoulder, much farther than he'd thought he would, and ran after him to keep up his pressure. To his surprise, Zell landed on his feet.*** *** *Okay...this b*****d's good, I'll give him that..." Zell thought as he knelt for a moment, knowing that his landing on his feet gave him a split second of a psychological adavantage though Kei was adavncing quickly. Just as he made it within arms reach of him, Zell shot upward, kneeing him in the chin cleanly, knocking him down, then followed up by leaping up into the sky, gathering energy into his feet with the full intention of crushing his opponent.*** ***Kei shouted in pain as Zell's knee connected squarely and he fell onto his back. "Damn it!", he yelled as he looked up to see Zell's near flaming body come flying down feet first towards him. He narrowly avoided the attack, having rolled to the side to do so, then he leapt to his feet, knowing he only had scant seconds to catch him before he could recover from his missed attack.*** ***Zell tensed as he landed, seeing nothing but cracked ground beneath him, then looked up just in time to wind up with a foot planted firmly in his ribs. He growled in agony and tumbled a couple of times, thanking whatever higher force that nothing was broken, though it seemed that Kei was set to remedy that as he started to stand and saw that he was already upon him again, and was late in bringing down his arms to guard against the second kick towards the same side he'd been nailed in before. His screams came across more or less as loud grunts as he slid and tumbled ungracefully across the training facility's floor landing near a rather large plant-like monster that made a hissing sound. "s**t!", he yelled, totally startled by it as it leaned down over him. It was far weaker than he was, he knew that, but it could still poison him, which could severely compromise whatever he could do next. He scampered to his feet as quickly as he could, nearly pissing his pants as the plant nearby burst into flames, due to a Firaga spell.*** *** "Where were we?", Kei quipped with a smirk after toasting the creature. He started to head after Zell again, but stopped in his tracks upon looking at him. He couldn't help but laugh at the look on his face, not to mention the fact that he'd pissed himself, and he raised his hands, signifying his surrender as he went to pick up his sword, no longer having it in him to continue the fight...for various reasons.*** ***Zell blinked as he saw Kei raise his hands. *Giving up...?* he thought. "What's your deal?!", he yelled to him as he watched him pick up his sword, trying to supress a shot of pain that went through him. Kei turned and pointed downward toward him. He looked down at himself and wanted nothing more than to disappear where he stood. "This stays between us!!" he yelled to Kei as he left the training facility. *Now how in the hell am I going to get to my dorm without anyone noticing?* *** ***Kei chuckled to himself as he walked out of the training facility, where Fujin and Raijin were waiting for him. "Hey, Fuu, hey, Rai.", he spoke cheerfully, to which they both replied in unison. "SO?", Fujin queried. "Yeah, tell us what happened. We're curious, ya know?" "Well...", Kei began, "...I can tell you that aside from being a bit worn, Zell's more than a little pissed right now." He laughed aloud at the image again before walking on, with the two following behind him, clearly confused. Whatever happened, they figured Zell would slip up and spill the beans eventually. He was known for putting his foot in his mouth at the wrong times, and this occasion wouldn't be any different." ***

((It was very interesting. Like I said before. The style is different. I see that you used * instead of Italics. I also noticed that when you used () like it was somewhat like ((out of character talk.)). The fighting style is somewhat different..., but I like the scenario.))
