Ezeoha sighed, staring at his reflection in the muddied puddle. He could easily go to the watering hole to check out his appearance, but that was too flashy and too vain. He knew the color of his golden fur, and people had described to him enough about his eyes that he did not need to see them for himself. Besides, his eyes matched his jewelry, so there was no point in trying to see his eyes when he could simply glance down at his bracelets and imagine. There was something that disappointed him, though. He seemed to be built lightly. The muscles he had were finely toned, but Ezeoha just looked sleek. He was not a bulky brute, and probably did not have all that much strength either... Of course, some females prefered the smaller and more handsome males. But... maybe he was too small.

With a grunt he stepped into the puddle, and then away from it. There was nothing wrong with his diet... it was just genetics. His father certainly wasn't the delicate type, and neither did his grandfather look that way... Oh dear, he probably resembled the females of his family more than the males. This could only make Ezeoha groan again as he lazily jumped on the top of a boulder. Not satisfied with this spot he jumped off of it, and curled underneath its shade as he brooded.

He... could... not... be... delicate.

Baakir let loose a loud yawn, shaking out the small cramps that came with sunbathing on a rock that had gotten too small for him. Oh, how sad. Lament away as he would, he couldn't shrink to fit back into the place where so many daydreams had taken place. He stretched a little with solid ground beneath his paws, feeling little pops along his spine as the uncomfortable feeling freed it self from his bones for the time being.

Well, he'd just have to find a new place, wouldn't he? Getting larger was so bothersome! He'd go look for a place later, but right now Baakir just wanted to walk around the all too familiar lands, get rid of the feeling of sheer boredom.

He set himself a fast pace, racing towards a landmark out on the savannah: A boulder that stuck out from the grass. He supposed he'd have to learn to hunt soon. Even if he didn't have to, it was time to hang any traditions and give him something productive to do. His strides increased in length, and by the time he reached his goal, he could feel the faintest trace of a heartbeat in his ears. Not as bad as he had thought, he told himself admiringly, walking around the other side from where his only brother rest in the shade.

His red eyes were nearly closed, and he was close to falling asleep, only to dream about his puny size and lack of manliness. He had grace, skill, and was certainly handsome, a prince in his finest outfit. But, no female could ever believe that Ezeoha would be able to protect them from everything. Baakir was better built than he, had more muscles and looked more filled out. Of course, Baakir's coat was not nearly as shiny, his eyes not nearly as entrancing, and certainly his tail was just a little on the short end.

...Speaking of Baakir...

Ezeoha groaned, catching the familiar scent of someone in his family. He wouldn't have mind terribly if it was his mother, and he wouldn't have tolerated remaining here if the scent was that of his sister, but the scent was of his brother, and he faced a little dilemma. He did not hate him enough to outright leave, but he hated him enough that he didn't feel like conversing with his sibling. Baakir, though, would make fun of him if he didn't speak out now. "Good day, brother of mine," he spoke, albeit a little crumpily.

Would this rock be a good sunbathing rock? It didn't look like it would suffice for him. Picky Baakir... He'd find somewhere in the end. The day before I leave, probably. Circle knows I just loooove irony. At the voice that greeted him, he went around to the other side and peered in, his green eyes glittering upon the sight of his brother.

He had picked up his dislike of Ezeoha when he had been little, mostly from Bari's influence and what little contact that two had had. However, he was surprised to find out that the former hate had numbed to mere dislike. It happened, he supposed, when one was out of contact. "Hello, Ezeoha." He said, the larger lion lifting his head back up lest he settle back into that discomfort. A small wave of shock rolled through his mind after he spoke, though it was only due to the fact he'd been listening for a hint of annoyance or anything in the whiny cubbish tone. Someone had stolen his higher-pitched tone and replaced it with something lower. Huh. he really should pay attention about himself, shouldn't he?

"What are you doing all the way out here with no followers?" Followers? Friends. Girls, more than likely, had been the thought on his mind that had forced the words out. "Charismatic Ezzy... Figured you would have had at least one disciple following you by now." True, he didn't have any either. Then again, he wasn't the center of attention that Baakir was sure his bright colored sibling was.

Ezeoha was surprised with Baakir's greeting. It lacked the distinct scent of hate. Oh, for sure his tone was sour and unwelcoming, but it was nothing compared to what Baakir usually greeted Ezeoha. Perhaps his dear brother was finally growing up and realizing that there are better things to waste one's time with other than picking one a brother. Surely Ezeoha did not go out of his way to start conflicts. In fact, he rather avoided conflicts as was necessary. Why fight when you can make love?

He laughed, his voice rich and warm. When he spoke, though, it was even more melodic and smooth, as if it had taken months of practice to perfect such a crisp and clear tone. "You must know as little about your brother as I had imagined. I have no followers. I have friends, if that is what you mean, but even friends need some time alone. Did you not know that some lions like peace and quiet?" His words were completely innocent, as if he was truly having a happy conversation with his beloved sibling. Baakir's insults were met with feigned stupidity and feigned sweetness.

"I don't need a disciple," he continued on in his careless matter, red eyes gleaming with the softest hints of malice. That was the only indication that Ezeoha was annoyed with his brother. Really! He had tried to start up a pleasant conversation with his sibling and immediately Baakir tried to make Ezeoha out as the enemy! How rude.

Baakir stretched outside of the shade, sitting down in the sunshine. "It's hard for me to know someone, brother, without them talking to me. I doubt you know much about me either." Ezeoha hadn't been there...

He shrugged, not noticing the small change in his brother's eyes. "Not even the gods, if they do exist, need them. Yet, they seem to be in high demand." The tan male looked to the sky, in search of dark clouds that might catch him when he wasn't looking. None bothered the sun-ridden patch of blue.

Baakir's eyes drifted back towards his youngest sibling, the tiniest though prodding the back of his mind. He chuckled, looking away towards Pride Rock.

"I cannot deny that I know very little about you. But, is it truly my fault if you weren't eager to talk to your brother?" Of course, Ezeoha hadn't been eager to chat with Baakir either, so both parties were at fault. Ezeoha wouldn't admit to this, though, he simply wasn't the type. The one who would always be at fault would be the one opposing Ezeoha, and right now that was Baakir.

"Well, I demand none for myself, so you can stop thinking so poorly of your own brother." Irritation began to break through Ezeoha's emotionless exterior. He could simply not put up with being belittled by his own sibling. He had experienced enough trouble from Baridi, and since then had avoided Baakir at all costs. It was a wise decision, he realized. He simply did not get along with anyone in his family, and the case was no different with Baakir. They were almost destined to detest each other, destined to hate one another... It was a cruel fate for a family.

"I would have if you had held still for more than five seconds before chasing after some female." The adolescent replied, his eyes narrowing. He recognized his fault, but his little brother obviously didn't. Baakir's claws unsheathed, burying gently into the earth beneath.

"Very well." It probably a surprising answer, but Baakir didn't want to fight with Ezeoha. Part of getting old could be growing up, and that seemed to be the way he was willing to go.
