Cinnabar Island

[Astral Rain]

The first Thunder attack skipped across the oceans surrounding Cinnabar a few minutes after sunset. It came from the north, alerting the already wary townspeople of the coming wave. They had heard all too well what had happened in the other western cities of Kanto.

The alarm sounded, and the trainers of Cinnabar amassed along the northern shoreline of the island. Pokemon were summoned, and those who could fight were present, along with the people of the island. They weren't going to give up without a fight.

A second Thunder was seen, this time from the east.

“We can't even see them...” a townsperson grumbled, peering into the gloom. Aside from the bright flashes from the electrical attacks, there wasn't a figure to be seen.

“Take cover!” came the frantic call from one of the people watching the ocean.

A boulder smashed into the beaches, sending volcanic sand flying. Another landed nearby. A Rock Throw was in effect.

A third hit a building squarely, and another smashed into its roof. The structure collapsed.

“How many of them are there?” came the cry, as people scrambled for cover.

“Too many...” came the disheartened response from another townsperson.

Up from the oceans they rose, with more flying up above. Dragons, it was soon discovered to be. And their charge was on in full.

The oceans surrounding the small island churned with Dragonair and Kingdra, while Aerodactyl, Dragonite, and Salamence blocked the starry sky with determined wingbeats.

The defenses of the town soon crumbled, and dragons poured onto the island. The sheer ferocity of the attack caught the people off guard. The trainers who stood to fight soon found themselves outmatched. For, it seemed, every time a dragon was dealt damage in a fight, a strange violet glow was seen, which healed all the dragons' wounds. There were whispers of dark magic, or maybe even a new attack. But whatever the case, the army of approaching dragons was invincible.

A cloaked figure was seen riding atop one of the Dragonite that remained above the disaster... However, as the dragons swept the island city, effectively dousing any and all attempts at reproach, the Dragonite flew off across the ocean, another destination in mind...
